8s stutters w/9920 - 10.25.2005, 01:24 PM

I got an 8s and 9920 from Mike and I set it up but when I hit full trhottle from a stand still or slow roll it stalls and doesn't go.

If I slowly throttle up the truck will accelerate ok. I have this in a stampede running 6 & 7 cells. I also have a UBEC installed. Is this a function of the low cell count or something more serious?

The 9920 is going in my E-maxx eventually and I'm looking ant the MGM 80 or 120 to put in the stampede.

Thanks in advance, you guys have provided me with much appreciated help.

Whats your gearing? Are you sure it isn't too high?

I have it geared 22/87 but I suspect it is a bit high, I was running 18/87 with my nokak SS.

I was able to solve the stall problem by setting my controller to 125% EPA for the throttle during programming and then backing it down to 100.

I no longer have the stalling issue.

I've only been in the test run stage and haven't ran long enough to really check temps etc.

Is this gearing too tall? Can I get away with this gearing? It's still able to pull rolling wheelies and has pretty good acceleration.

Thanks again.

That also crossed my mind.

I have some new 7 cell GP3300 and a couple 6 cell Venom 3000, as well as some generic 6 cell 3000 Nimh. I did the last programming with the GP's.

How are those cells configured? what plugs do you use?

Throw away those generic cells, they waste the fun of BL power... Your now in the bigboyssetupzone dude! 60A+ is what i'm talking about, those generic cells are only doing like 0.3volts at these loads..

It's no surprise the controller cut out during hard acceleration on those generic cells (if Serums info is correct)

Good batts are mandatory for BL!

I'm sure your truck flies! How's the high speed handling?

True. But he said he used the GP's on the last programming. And he also said it worked better (after he tricked EPA)

Don't know what cells he used on those runs with the cutouts!?

Or am I foreigned again?:)

You're not getting full throttle now though, the controller learned 125% to be 100% then you reduced the EPA.

It is possible that the warrior is just less smooth at these low cell counts. If it does the same on your maxx Mike would surely take care of it so i wouldn't worry.

Do you have decent connectors on those new GP packs?

BEC jumper is removed. I have Deans connectors on batteries.

I reset Tx to "normal" setting (100 EPA) and reprogrammed with 6 cell Venom 3600 and still had stall issue.

Programmed again with 7 cell GP3300's and stall issue went away, again with Tx EPA at 100.

So you guys were on the mark with the batteries being the issue.
Thanks again:D

High speed handling is not too bad, I have fast lane extended chasis & extended arm kit, but yeah this thing flies:D . Can't really slam the throttle anyway cuz the front lifts so easily with this much power.

Enjoy your Pede! Sounds like a nice car, what with alu chassis and stuff.
I like the paintjob in your avatar, too. Is it your actual truck?

Thought it must be the batts. Sounded like a cutoff under voltage drop. You get it with empty batts, too.
