I'm debating about this upgrade for my G3-Revo as I don't expect the diff to last too long even with Aliuminum inners/outers .
I can pick up some Hyper ST Pro Truggy diffs at a reasonable price. Is there anything else I need? Is it a drop in on the Gorillamaxx with the gorillamaxx centres?
Secondly how do people work the gearing - The truggy diffs seem to reduce the ratio quite a lot...
66/24 which is about the max I can get on stock motor mount plate with 6sA123 / 1515 2.5DF is only going to give me 37MPH vs 43mph before.
This is for this reason you need the buggy ratio (13/43)
I run my e-revo (before i smoke my MGM) with this hybrid diff with buggy ratio, with a Neu 1515 2.5d, geared 62/24 on 6s li-po, and i can easily hit 40m/h.
Yep, go with the buggy ratio gears. In all honesty a diff out of a hyper7 should be fine, and cheap. Properly shimmed it should last a while. You can also get HB hardened internal gears for the diff, which should lengthen the life. You can also swap over to the the revo spec slipper and modded mgt gears in mod1 for better primary gear ratio choices. It takes a bit of modding to the tranny, not much if you have the g maxx single speed...
I'm mod'd to single speed but use the stock transmission case at the moment.
Do you have a link to the revo slipper mod - The only thing I might have a problem with is that I think you have to drill the shaft - I don't have a drill press or vise so that may be a challenge!
If you replace the input gear with an 18t mod1 pinion from Mike you do not need to drill the shaft, just file a flat area for the set screw to hold onto. I would use red thread lock on that set screw, as it is a pain if it loosens up. I had a writeup somewhere, might have gone with the temp forum. It was really easy to do with the gmaxx single speed kit. Just had to trim the end of a revo input shaft a few mm and make the flat spot on the shaft for the 18t pinion. I also used a spacer inside the tranny to keep the shaft from moving in or out. The 18t pinion is a bit thinner than the stock top gear.
Ahh at $73 for just the single speed plate + all the Revo Slipper bits would I be better off just getting an E-revo / New Emaxx Transmission? Isn't there a conversion plate for a G-Revo to get the newer transmisison to fit?
Is the output shaft shorter on the newer transmission - Would I have to go back to sliders?

Flm were making a plate that TDC57 used with his gmaxx. The newer style tranny is superior to the old one, and I have bought them for around 50 bucks off ebay. I think that Metalman made some tranny adapters too...
Not sure if the output shafts are the same length or not, but I can check for you, have both sitting around somewhere...
I had a quick chat to mike about it - Up shot is the that the Slipperential is close (relative term) and that he is also looking to Truggize his G-Revo too with a centre slipper.
The FLM kit is available but mike doesn't think it would work too well with the G-Revo as the transmission is dropped very low.
I think the best thing will be to wait for that - It doesn't seem to make much sense to drop $100+ on transmission components at the moment when this may be around the corner.
Still think that it will be worth going for the hybrid diffs...

Still think that it will be worth going for the hybrid diffs if David wants to sell...
Sounds good, can't wait for the slipperential...
David L was going to sell you a set of hybrids? I bought a set from him last year Still have not used them...
