Record of MMM V2 success so far -
08.24.2008, 07:58 PM
Gents,
With a few threads reporting the failure of MMM as such, I feel that we should also gauge the success rate of the MMM. Let the (hopefully) silent majority speak out on your success with V2 so far. Some info like :
1) What configuration ? (vehicle, motor, battery)
2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.)
3) How long the run time so far ?
4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian)
5) Any other relevant info
would be cool. Mine is on the way so let's hope it's second time lucky
Regards,
Joe Ling

Hyper ST truggy, 5S zippy's, 1515 2.5D.. ~1900W as geared.
So far everything but the custom lvc works. Motor, batts and esc stays cool. ~2hrs of hard bashing so far. Everything so far is good temp wise. Motor under 150F.. esc..hard to temp. ;) Fan comes on for ~30secs when I stop it then goes off. Guess that's a good sign.

Muggy, 1515 2.5D, 6s
No mods, running it right out of the box
about 4hrs. run time on it
hard bashing, full throttle runs, wheelies, small jumps (so far). Trying to see if it can take a beating basically.

2) Any mods ? not really just a plate in case it flames;

3) How long the run time so far ? about 10 hours
4) Driving style. I drive like a sissy...lol...would anyone? I beat my MMM like a red-headed stepchild!
5) Any other relevant info. Not that I can think of...

I suppose my V1 info may not be relevant, but then again, maybe it is?
1) What configuration ? (vehicle, motor, battery) Hyper 7, 10XL, 6S A123
2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.) Nope
3) How long the run time so far ? Several hours
4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian) Barbarian++
5) Any other relevant info: I can't seem to keep fans running in it. I think I've been through at least 4 by now. I've had one blade break, the rest have been electrical failures.

This info is for my v1 that has about 2 hours on it so far:
1) What configuration Erevo, all stock save for mgt 50t spur, 19t pinion. 4s lipo, neu 1515 1.5d.
2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.) Added some high density foam cushion between the case mottom and the pcb, clearanced the case botton for the fan plug, and enlarged the slot in the case side where the signal/switch wires exit. I plan to add so shrink tubing to those wires and the internal fan wires. I recently purchased a used MMM v1 that had run quite a bit, it had frayed wires on the fan and where they exit the case, the fan plug had also scratched the case bottom alot. Should have taken pics, but just sent it to castle...
3) How long the run time so far ? 2 hours+
4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian) Fast street runs, lots of full throttle and hard brakes. Also ran off road, and on a ginat asphalt hill (mountain?!) A fair amount of jumping. I know how to drive so I am not as rough as some...
5) Any other relevant info: Case design is poor, IMO. It should have some sort of pcb support, other than the lower case. Some plastc tabs and screws would be best. The sticker on the bottom does not stick very well, also the tabs on the case bottom are poor. I have heard about fan clearance issues, and will check my V1 for this. Fan still works fine, it is on all the time being a v1 model. Signal wire exit hole is also poor, should have a runbber grommet, or some sort of wire protection. Internal fan wire also needs addl protection from rubbing the side of the pcb. Honestly all of this shows very poor physical testing... CC needs to do a bit more of that next time...
I will say that the performance has been great. No issues at all with running the motor and the internal bec works flawlessly so far. I have a V2 coming this week and will have it in a LST on 6s, will report back after some testing...

1) What configuration?
Losi 8ight, MMM V1, Tekno Neu 1515/1y, Hyperion 4s 5350mah lipo pack
2) Any mods?
Completely stock V1 MMM ESC... nothing done to it. The fan doesn't seem to work, but it was like that when I bought the ESC used. The temp of it doesn't go above about 120*F so I'm happy with it.
3) How long the run time so far?
I have about two and a half hours under it, and probably more with the previous owner.
4) Driving style?
Testing was pretty conservative, then I did some full speed to full brake runs for about 10 - 15 minutes straight. And today I had about a hour and a half bashing session with some massive jumps and big hill climbs, but I wasn't working the ESC too hard. It was a lot of stop and go though.
5) Any other relevant info?
It is running perfect for me so I can't be happier.

My first v2 Dropped dead after about 4-5 hours of total track time. Maybe a bit more.
It just stopped. No smoke, no flames, no lights, no nothing. Just dead.
Config: Mugen MBX-5 Prospec, 1512/1.5/D/F, 11t pinion - 46t spur on 4s 25c 5000mah Polyquest.
Mods: Holes drilled in case at the caps, Fan wire shrink wrapped and rerouted.
Runtime: About 4-5 hours.
Driving Style: Drunken Barbarian with Terets and dirty contacts.
Other: Temps were fairly consistent around 145 degrees.
Number 2 v2 is still holding up. I moved it from my truggy over to the buggy so I could race it this past weekend. I put my old modded up MM back in the truggy. It ran pretty good too.
