Smile Construction site bash pictures and video - 08.27.2008, 08:43 PM

I had a nice hour to hour and a half long bash this past weekend with the newly completed 8ight, and I am happy to say that it ran fantastic. Temps toward the end were 120*F on the motor, 121*F on the ESC, and 110*F on the battery. The battery got much warmer than I like (I like them to stay right at about 95 to 100*F), but overall everything performed perfectly. Lots of crashes and jumps and high speed runs and the 8ight handled them all. Here is a video of some of the jumps and crashes that took place. (crashes are at the end )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95XQBo2qG_U

And here are some pictures from the bash as well. There are quite a few of them... some action shots, and some beauty shots.

I also heard clicking once in awhile. Is that just the contact of all the metal parts "cvd's to cups, diff to pinion" hitting at once from braking quickly?

Thanks guys. I actually just found it about a week or two ago somehow, and its only a mile from my house. The downside of this place is that there will be houses there in a matter of weeks or a month. Then I'll have to go searching for another local construction site. The local parks seem to be filled with parents and kids every hour of day light so I prefer not to run my trucks there...

Thanks. I just had "failure" come up when I didn't go fast enough for the jumps to make the sloped landing.

It must be all the metal parts, because after the bash I checked everything over, and its all silky smooth.

Great video. Those looked like some huge jumps.

In the third picture it doesn't look like your diff case is screwed down properly to the chassis or is that how they are? I can't really tell in the pic it just looks a bit funny. I'm suprised the chassis can take that sort of abuse and still flex back. I'm impressed.

Thanks again guys for all the compliments. Really appreciate them all. I'll get that done soon enough MM. The next day I started school, so I didn't even get a chance to recharge the battery yet, or even look it over very closely. All I had time to check for was that nothing broke.

MTBikerTim - I was hoping/expecting someone to notice that. Early on the bash session, the front two screws holding the front diff came out... those two screws also hold the front bumper. That space is where the front bumper slides into, and the screws hold it in place from the bottom. I had no replacements at the moment, so I just kept on running. I have them ordered though, so they should be coming. The reason they fell out though (I think) is because I have a skid plate in the front which is pretty thick. I am guessing that the screws were just barely holding on the the diff case...
