Noooooooooooo! Not Number 4?!?!?!?!? - 09.01.2008, 06:59 PM

WTF??? I took my truck out for the first time in the dirt yesterday with the wife and kid. After about 8-10 min, it just stopped working!!! I figured I had a dead battery, so I went to swap, but no sirree; I now have ANOTHER dead MMM. Yes folks, this is my THIRD dead V2, FOURTH MMM total!! Maybe 5th time's a charm??

The only thing I can think of is that before running it yesterday, I dropped the punch control even lower (limits power more), changed the timing to whatever the next is below neutral for cooler temps, and raised cutoff voltage to 19V. Then I ran a few minutes and died.

I thought this was over, guess not. No more smileys either. At this point in time, I think it's safe to say that the switch to brushless was EXTREMELY STUPID, and I should have stuck with nitro. When nitro breaks, you can SEE it, and FIX it. When an ESC breaks, you don't know why, and you have to send it back. And it's like a bad surprise when it happens. BL/LIPO sucks! There, I said it!! I want my nitro setup back! I'll take regular maintenance over waiting forever for parts that work anyday. What a waste of time and money this was!!

Anybody want to buy my setup???

End rant.

What's your setup?

Sorry to hear the loss of your MMM. At least, you were able to run it for 10 minutes. I'm still waiting for the replacement of my V1. I'm not thrilled about the MMM anymore. Good thing I still have my nitros to run with or else I will be here ranting about CC everyday.

Do you have any plans of doing BrianG's mod?

I have had great results so far on #3 with a UBEC. Not the way it should be, but it sure as hell beat playing musical MMMs. :)

Not to victimize the victim, but why do people continue buying these things when they know there are problems? I can see if someone bought one and had a problem, but after 4, I would think enough would be enough. People actually seem to be genuinely surprised when their 3rd+ MMM breaks. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Sorry to come across like this, but come on! It's not like this is breaking news! It should be painfully obvious by now that there are still some bugs to work out.

Simple, no other companies make 6s ESC. Ho yes MGM make one, but it's the same thing, not reliable at all, but it's about twice the price of the MMM.
So people continue to buy MMM because it's just $169.00 and people hope that their new unit be more reliable than the previous one.

+1 MGM reply on average 1 in every 3 emails you send them. Then blame you for a fault anyway.

It sound's like its getting to the point were they should just recall all MMM's since there seems to be a problem with MOST of the MMMs out there. For every person who owns two MMM V2's or more, more often than not both fail. I don't know if it has to do with the setup or not. Anybody have any problems with an MMM in a buggy? I've only heard of problems in truggies and monster trucks so far.
