Neu 1512 Series Motor in MBX5-T? (4S) - 09.01.2008, 09:51 PM

Just wondering what your thoughts are on it...

Now as I type it out I just began to realize that 4S on a 1512 in a truggy may heat up real fast....?

What are your thoughts? Is it a good idea and will it be efficient and run cool?

Thanks,
steve

I don't know. I have both an MBX-5 and an MBX-5T

I run a 1512/1.5/D/F in my buggy and I have to say it's probably too much for the track. I have it dialed way back just to make it controllable.

I have a 1515/1.5/D/F in my truggy and it's awesome. I think it's just about right.

If you go with a 1512 I would get a lower KV motor like a 2/D or a 2.5/D.

Or check into the wye winds and find something between 1800-2400 kv.

I think the 1512 2d will be OK on 4s in a truggy. If my 1515 1.5d/f takes too long to get back from Neu (needs new bearings), I will be trying the 1512 2d in my MBX5T. At 2550kv, I think it will be OK. My 1512 2d is currently in my E-Revo and it doesn't get hot at all.

IMO, it's all about gearing. If you want 40mph+ speeds, the 1512 might be working kinda hard and heat up. If geared for 30-35mph, it should be fine.

I don’t know how big the MBX5 is, but I run a 1512/2.5D (2050kv) on 4S in my Hyper-7 truggy geared at 46/13t. It’s insanely fast and too much power for the truck. The front-end is either always unwinding (with 120k center-diff fluid) or in the air. In fact, just last week, I munched my second center diff internals. But damn it’s a blast to drive!!!!
