Quick Sidewinder ? and Motor KV -

The chart that CC has for the mm and sidewinder has a limit for the SW 3s on thier cms4600 motor. So it should be fine to run 3s on any motors under that KV?
Say a Novak HV6.5 which I think is 3000kv or the medusa 36-50-3300. The Novak HV4.5 is at 5000 so that would be a no no?
Just curious is it becuase the higher KV motors will draw more amps or volts then the sidewinder is rated for?
you cant draw more volts, voltage is whatever your pack is. I think the point is that higher kv motors will draw more current.
Theres no strict rules really, it wont explode if you plug in a 3s pack with a 5000kv motor, but its probably no good on the warranty side of things, and will likely thermal easily.
That said I've succesfully run 8th scale buggy conversions with a sidewinder and a feigao 8L (~3000kv) on 3s and 4s A123 packs (up to 14.4V) without any temp problems. Its all about gearing really.
The medusa you mentioned would be great with the sidewinder...
I also want to vouch for the medusa. I have run the medusa 3300 as well as a Neu 1509/1Y (3600kv) with absolutly no problems. Actually it ran cooler than my MM... Go Figure
Sounds like the sidewinder a tough little bugger! I'll give it a go with the 3300. Got a couple of the KD motors in today also. I got the 09l - 2700 and a 11l - 2200. The 2200 will probably need a 4s though, don't you think?
I will say that the sidewinder is an excellent brushed (sacrilege) speed control. I wired up one in a buddies ax10 with a 55t novak motor and 3s 2200 20c lipo. Runs that setup super smooth and it has tons of torque. Plus it never gets hot, even after 2hr back to back runs.
pimp: SW is overkill for that, I run a mamba micro pro in the same setup on 3s lipo and its got enough grunt to overcome anything ive thrown at it, and it also doesnt get hot :P top stuff they are.
