first off thanks to everyone that helped me with my spur gear problem it was the mesh and the paper trick worked great.now for the new problem i have a loud clicking at takeoff. i want to know how to tell if its the center diff or the rear? when i spin the rear wheel the wheel turns the same direction unlike the front wheels the noise seems to come from the trans?both front and rear diffs are stock.my set up is mm/9xl/3s80000mah truerc lipo if this helps?my first race will be this Saturday would like not to tear the whole transmission apart if not necessary. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked all of the driveshafts, and your wheel hexes/drivepins? The clicking is most likely the rear diff. Pulling it and checking it will be the best bet, but you can check the rest of the drivetrain just to be sure.

drive line and hexs are fine minus the boots.just looking for a way to tell if its the rear diff or the center diff as that is what's making the noise.do rear diffs go out more than center ones?any upgrade to fix this?

Well, the revo center diff is no stronger than a front of rear diff. So it is taking a fair amount of load. You can take the front or rear center driveshaft out and run the truck 2wd. Don't get on it too hard, but you should be able to tell which diff it is.

True, the diffs are basically the same, however, the center diff sees 2.8462 times less strain than the F/R diffs.

I would check the rear first since that is the one that takes the most beating...

To help the diffs last longer, dial in some punch control to help limit the instant torque. You may also want to look into some aluminum diff cups and cases. They won't flex as much which makes the gears keep a consistent mesh. Granted, the Revo diffs are not the strongest design, but it'll help.

Hold one side of the truck in the air by the tires with the other two tires on a table. Rotate the rear tire. If it clicks then it's the rear diff. Rotate both tires in opposite directions. If it clicks then the center diff is at fault.
