Shrink wrap for 6.5mm castle bullets ugh - 10.16.2008, 10:57 PM

Seems like all the shrink wrap I try is either a little to small or allot to big for the 6.5mm castle bullets. Anyone know where I can get the rite stuff?
I like a neat look but so far i have to settle with smaller wrap that I stretch to go over the bullet and it looks ummmm not so good

I got mine at Walmart in the auto section. It's a package with 5 pieces and only 1 or 2 are the right size, the other pieces work well for other RC purposes though. I was wanted to get mine going and no one else is open at 1AM so I was stuck with this choice but it has worked good so far

The stuff that's about 0.5" wide works well. Much bigger than that and it doesn't shrink enough, smaller and...well, you get the idea.

*edit* I mean 0.5" wide when flattened.....

Try some 8mm dia. glue lined shrinks. Your local DIY electronics store should have them in stock. Radioshack perhaps.

One thing I like about being here in Asia(Japan) is the availability of everything in metric

I bought and used a 8mm shrink-wrap for my MMM but it still smoked. 10-12mm for my Deans plugs.

...And here I was thinking shrink-wrap was the end-all-fix-all for the MMM! You'll have to try two layers on the next one!

This place is where I get mine and they have just about everything you could imagine. They also sell it by the foot. I highly recomment the adhesive lined stuff so when you pull plugs apart the heat shrink doesn't come off. Here's the link:

Any electrical supply house should have a huge selection of shrink tubing.

I know Graybar has any size you could ask for from 1/8th of an inch to 1.5 inches.

In all different colors.
