Updated V2 chatting to itself - 10.27.2008, 06:05 AM

Hi all.
Thanks to the input from everyone on these boards I lashed out and put together a new Emaxx, MedUSA 60-2000, MMM (V2 with update to 1.20) and 5S2P A123s.
Wow this thing really goes! Flips on the lid with a gently throttle caress.
BUT off-throttle the motor just sits there cheeping and chipping away like a budgie. I am using the stock radio- any idea why the motor wants to chat so much?
I must say I don't mind- it's still BIG fun.
Thanks again and enjoy!!

Only thing I can think of is if you got your throttle trim a bit out and still giving the motor a bit of power at neutral, but not quite enough to move the car.
The mmm does beep every 20 or 30 seconds to let you know it's still on, but it doesn't sound like your talking about that.

Sounds like perhaps the deadband setting on your MMM is perhaps a little too small for your radio, and is causing the ESC to make very minor throttle outputs to your motor as a result. Try changing the deadband setting to a wider range...hopefully that'll cure it.

Either that, or it's just general interference that the stock AM radio is susceptible to. Do you have range issues? There's not a huge amount you can do about that if you do, without upgrading your radio to a 2.4Ghz system unfortunately. Even a decent FM system would be a big improvement.

Might be a stupid question, but are you sure its the motor and not the servo. I have heard some very noisy chatter from servos that could almost pass as motor chirps.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

My hitec servo keeps cherping as soon as I switch on the bec. Funny, though, it quits cherping when you lift the truck.

Servo's will always chirp when they can't get to dead center. Sounds to me like his deal is radio interference or throttle trim.

Recalibrate (if it's really the motor making the noise)

Got out all the bugs I could- still there! Thanks to all the responders. The servos just make the usual hunting sounds as they do when trying to centre- the noises are definitely the motor. I will widen the dead band on the Monster when I get home- that was pretty sensitive to small trigger pulls so may well be the problem. And I forgot the AM radio issues in my excitement so I'll chuck in the new radio tonight. Gee the MMM and medusa are a nice combo. New EMAXX lovely too. Thanks to all for inspiration.
