G3 Brace help needed - 10.28.2008, 09:10 AM

Running a G3 chassis, with RCM v1 Slipperential.

Problem, I must have tightened the slipperential down too much, now the top of the xbrace (where the slipperential mounts) is bent in 4 places (where the slipperential is connected). This causes the spurr gear to no longer be vertical where it meets the pinion, it's off by a couple of degrees.

Question: Can I just remove the braces, and try to straighten them, add some additional support between the top and bottom where the slipperential is mounted, or do I have to replace them (with parts that are not available), and try to beef up the replacement braces?

No idea how they got bent, but looking at it, the force of the mounting screws appears to have warped the top of the braces.

Any advice is appreciated.

Yep, just bend them back, carefully, and insert some kind of spacer.

If you look close enough, you can see it in this pic
