I've been toying with the idea of buying several of those plastic skateboard ramps.

Anyone use them? Do they hold in place fairly well? Is the one from sears good for backyard racing, or is it more of a trick jump thing? I'm more inclined to grab the style that K-mart has.

i think the sears one will give you more height as the k mart one is just an incline then drop. I have used the tiny hot wheels orange ramps before and they work great. If you find it to slide on the cement just put something in front to hold it. In the grass i never had a problem though.

I use this one and it does pretty well for me. Without putting anything under it, I get not much height, but plenty of distance.

For the price just try it. If you don't like it, just give it to one of the neighbor kids for their bikes. :-)

I was actually thinking of the opposite - stealing them from the kids!!!

Both of those are too small for anything but 1/18th vehicles. You need something wider, like this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=1313336

That was one of my concerns - being able to hit the damn thing.

jsut build your own out of wood it will be heavier but much nicer and you can make it whatever size and however steep you want it.

I had started in that direction. But I need something lightweight and preferrably stackable. We go camping a lot, and I need to keep the weight down in the truck if I can. And for the previous reason, and for storage at home, I'd like something stackable to keep its footprint down.

1 sheet of plywood cut into 4 pieces 2'x4' a few hinges, a few bungee cords,and a couple 2x4s will solve ur problem. Use 3/8" plywood to keep the weight down. Hinge 2x4s so that you can fold them to the top side of the ramp and they would store pretty flat, then fold the legs out for use and hold them together with a bungee

stackable? how many do you have to have? you dont have to build it very heavy out of wood and you can make it where is lays almost flat with removable legs. ill look for the pictures of the one i built.

I think I'd like to end up with about 4 or 5 of them. I was thinking it would be neat to use them to make a track wherever we are bashing at.

wow any ways if you still give the wood idea another thought i cant find a picture on my laptop might be one of my desktop but i drew a quick little picture showing you how its built.

you can make it 2 feet or 4 feet wide what ever you have room for or feel comfortable hitting with the MTs (mine was 4 feet wide)

here is what youd need (about 20-25 bucks and an hour to build it)
(1) 2x8x8'
(1) 2x4x8'
(1) 2x4x12'
(1) 4'x4' 1/4" piece of plywood (i used 3/8 but itd be lighter using 1/4)
(4) 1/2" bolts 4" long
(4) 1/2"wing nuts
(8) 1/2" flat washers

you can see in the picture that you cut the radius into half the 2x8 for each side, and use the 2x4's as joist with the left over 4' piece of the 12' board going to the Legs that are bolted on with the 1/2 bolts and wing nuts.

if you only wanted it 2 feet wide just leave out the 2x4x8' and youll only need a 2'x4' piece of plywood.

very fun ramp , i need to build another i ran over mine with my F250 on accident about 6 months ago and it ripped the screws out of one of the radius' and broke one back leg.

EASY now! your not the only one with work done to your truck, youve got me on hp but i got slight hair on you in Tq......lol that Banks intercooler kit allowed me double my turbo psi which really went nicely with everything else that Bryan's Truckshop did. I got about 28k miles since the rebuild (and buildup) at 231K miles. i wouldnt trade it for any new gas burner!

ATLeast we both have REAL trucks right...
