Losi 8 shocks - 11.09.2008, 09:40 PM

Does any one know where to get Losi 8 front shocks from? I can only find front and rear shocks together not front or rear shocks on there own.

Here's a set for the front. I am pretty sure the 8t and 8b shocks are the same. Atleast AMAIN list the same front shock body for the 8t and 8b.

Usually there are some chop shops on ebay that sell the front and rear seperately. I couldn't find any of them listed today though. They usually list once a week.

Here's one of them. I've bought from this one before.

Are there any other shocks you or anyone else would recommend. Would AE RC8 shocks work well?

My buddy has the same shocks they are the best! They don't leak, caps don't pop off, and they are just so reliable. I would get them but i can't find them any where. I have big bores but they started to suck after i put new oil in them. Should I rebuild them and be done with it or get some power strokes? Witch set up would be better for bashing?

AE RC8 front shocks will work great and are the most available shocks.

The Proline PowerStrokes may be the best racing shock produced, but they are discontinued and parts will be hard to find. Four UE SuperShocks will also work, but again they have been discontinued. I have used 8 BigBores, 4 coil over PowerStrokes and 4 Supershocks. I like the UE SuperShocks the best. They give great dampening and stability in turns. The PowerStrokes' spring retainer cup rubbed on my 3.3 shafts and the springs rubbed against my RPM arms. They were just too big.

I think I will go with some RC8 shocks and hope for the best. Would LST shocks fit on a maxx? Are they to big?

The losi shock springs will rub on the tmaxx arms. I tried this setup and it didn't work well. It will only work for single arm suspension arms like the flextek, Dace, and Gorillamaxx.

Here are the info I have gathered on the UE/Ofna and Losi 8T shocks.

UE/Ofna:
Shock shaft Length - 58.73mm
Shock shaft Diameter: 3.6mm
Length of body - 55.5mm
Diameter of body - 13.5mm
Length of springs - 79.5mm

Losi 8ight (rear shock):
Shock shaft Length - 57mm
Shock shaft Diameter - 4mm
Length of body - 50.5mm
Diameter of body - 15mm
Length of springs - 78.74mm

As you can see, I forgot to take into account the spring and spring retainer diameter.

Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)

And LST/Muggy shocks are wayyyyy too big to fit the maxx suspension- barring major hacking about.

Oh, ok I thought i saw some one do it though? Hum...I think he had to modify the upper a-arm though. It looked real nice though!

Oh yes, some one did it for sure- they had FLM a-arms; had to drill new holes right out by the knuckles for the lower shock mounting point, and remove half the upper a-arm to clear the springs. Hacked is new a good look really- better to stay with normal 1/8 shocks for a 4 shock setup, miles neater and better performance.
