Does anyone make a plastic spur for the crt.5? - 11.13.2008, 10:32 PM

Is the stock spur the same as an 1/8 scale...or does someone make a plastic one that will fit.. Metal on metal gears sounds awful...I know that it is a small thing, but........

I did do this myself. I had to grind the teeth off the stock spur, and had a hpi 47t spur bored to slide over the diff cup. Then I bolted them together. I had to space the bulks up to allow the gear to clear the chassis as the spur is farther forward.

A while ago there was a lot of discussion on this topic, and nobody was able to come up with an easy, 100% effective solution. If I recall correctly, a Kyosho spur can be modified to fit on the stock center diff (forgot who did this, though).

I tried it over a year ago when the .5 first released. Eventually scrapped the whole thing in my "do-over".

Believe me, I know. Driving a sub-1/10 truck at the 1/10 indoor offroad track that makes as much noise as a 1/8 buggy does get a bit annoying. Outside it was fine though.

Plastic will not last. There is a reason all the pinions and CBs made to mesh with metal spurs are hardened.

I had some of those left over from my brushed motor days. They did not work well with anything brushless... We easily ripped the teeth of them with a 9l on 3s in an emaxx.
