E Maxx chassis. G4 or FLM??? - RC-Monster Forums

I have read everything I can find on the two. IMO the FLM looks stronger, but the G4 seems to have more debris protection. The lcg thing is mot an issue, not trying to make it a truggy, have one. I like the G4 but is it as tough as the FLM. I have seen popoxx's vids at the trx forun and he pounds the FLM hard with no chassis issued. The G4 is different than the other gorillamax chassis in there are no real chassis bracing. Just the two plates and some posts.I have been wanting to do this fore some time and a broken stock chassis has forced me to do something. Is the G$ worth twice the dough?

Personally, after having spent five years being a manager over a machine shop, I can tell you that all of the Gorilla parts are over priced, by a wide margin. The FLM items, are much more inline with reality. That said, unless you plan to race, the G4 offers you no real benefit over the FLM. The low battery trays will become am issue when bashing in rough terrain and even on grass. So for my .02 worth go with the FLM, they make top notch products.

True. I owned a G2 e-maxx a while (a long while) back when i still ran ni-mh and i flew off of a large jump and somehow pierced the metal bottom of the battery tray enough to ruin my nimh.

I've owned both (G2R, not the G4) - FLM would get my recommendation. Its a tougher unit, no comparison. I had less trouble with it than the G2R. I don't think the 4 is that different.

FWIW, I'd say the FLM chassis is a better choice, i dont go much on the new G4 design at all really. Just be aware of the steering link issues if you use a pair of steering servos-Poppoxx covered that in detail.

I use a single servo and the traxxas short servo horn. popoxx uses the twin servo, the long horns and drag link are the issue there. I also have bid on a 3906 steering linkage. I think the 3905 is to tall also. I'll tell you what, popoxx does drive his truck. I was looking for some Gmaxx owners input and you guys say FLM, so that says something there.

Gmaxx chassis' used to be a thing of beauty, and perfect for racing or high speed stuff, but the new design doesnt do anything for me, so the stronger FLM design is the better choice. That said, you can do something like Serum did to his FLM chassis to lower the CoG a bit..

The maxx is just a basher, go have some fun truck. Serum's chassis mod is super nice though.With the carbon on it he can call it the FLM Diamond Edition.

I have the G4 and though it does look kind of wimpy next to the older g2 and g3s when its all bolted up its very strong, I flipped it down the street many times running my 2D MMM UE diffs on 5s and 6s geared for just over 50mph. Nothing chassis related has broken. Now I snap pillow balls left and right. But if you are going core dirt driving over rocks and stuff the FLM im sure would be better. I do mainy grass, even dirt and pavement with my maxx.
