Selecting outrunner for crt .5 - 11.28.2008, 02:08 PM

I am trying to pick the right outrunner if I decide to go with an outrunner on my crt .5. I am wanting to go with 3s. Here is the outrunner I think should work - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=7073

I'm also considering this one - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._1250Kv_/_630w

I will need to find a 4mm drive cup or an adapter if I use one of these motors.

Any objections/suggestions?

I think that would be a better motor. My buddy runs the 770KV version on 4s in his crt.5. But his is direct drive. Im assuming thats what your going to run is a direct drive deal?

Yes, I am running direct drive. I want the 1250kv motor over the 1000kv because I will be running 3s and not 4s. I am pretty much ruling out the 1400kv motor now. The other guy who did the outrunner .5 used that 1000kv motor on 4s. The 1250 is higher quality and maybe a little smaller.

The only thing I see wrong is that you have the computer on the wrong forum! LOL

Very nice, clean looking setup!

Will the diffs take the abuse?

thats just to much motor

What size tires are you running? 3.5's or 4in tires? Either way, thats 35-40mph. With your other motor choices it will run hot. You can go for it if you want. But id reccomend you get a 1000KV motor, or run 770 on 4s

I am currently running the 3.5" tires. Do you really think this will run too hot on 3s?

Yeah for 3.5 I guess you would be fine. Thats around 37mph. I dont know how far you can push a out runner yet. So I cant say what will and wont work and be 150% positive about it. But from what I have learned, they really work better with a lower KV, and higher voltage, less cogging, less heat and all

I think this is a good comprimise 1100kv, 48mm long- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._35-48_1100Kv_

It is less KV and longer. It might handle the bigger tires too.

How long is the 770kv motor on the previous page?

Motor Dimensions: 37.4mm x 48mm

Same size?

3.25
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 1
Pinion Tooth Count: 1
Total Voltage: 11.1
Motor KV: 1100
Tire Diameter (inches): 3.5
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Tire Circumference (inches): 11 inches (279.29 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 12210 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 39.12 mph (62.84 km/h)
Estimated Adjusted Speed: 37 mph (60 km/h) - 5% loss

Or at 1000, its 35.6 mph

Id say either will work. But so far there have been a few conversions with the KD out runner, so thats why we ordered the KD because we know it works. Never used that other motor. So you can choose there
