New 1/5 Motor, BigBlock "pics inside" - 01.27.2009, 06:12 PM

Picked up a Kollmorgen 400 brushless motor for my 1/5 yesterday. Its absolutely monsterous compared to the CIM robotics brushed motor and hopefully will displace even more raw power. Its so wide that I will have to make a custom plate that will have to hang off the chassis to be able to mount the other side of the motor.

Here are a few pics. "Internal pics will be posted up asap"

Balance issues? Or are you gonna have some type of wheeled outrigger?

Extend the shaft out the back and make it direct drive somehow.

That is a much easier motor to rewind. Try and do what Brian said and make it direct drive. There are also tons of good BL motors out there that are a bit smaller. I have a few here and all I need to do is rewind them to handle the current and rasi the Kv a little.

All I have to say is wow, that thing is huge! I agree with the other guys though, direct drive with something that size would probably be perfect, and would make it alot more balanced. Looks great! And I want a video of that thing powering the truck around ASAP!!!
