Zippy battery cell quality - 02.09.2009, 11:54 PM

Is there a difference in cells between these 2 as far as quality goes.....just curious that's all. I know that 1 is rated at a higher c rating. Is the cell quality the same?

The C rating is usually (read: shoud be) a reflection of the cell quality. But since there is zero standard for these C ratings, theyre basically useless.

That's said, Ive tried every cheap cell money can buy (ie no enerland cells haha) except for those new 'flightmax' packs. So far the rhinos are the best quality by a long way. Next on my list is those 25C flightmax's.

I have 2 Zippy's already, I noticed the newer Flightmax line and wondered if they were the same as the regular cells. People have been having great success w/the reg. cells and I was hoping that the same was true for the newer line

I just got 2 of the flightmaxxs of the 2nd link you posted. I havn't had a chance to use them yet, but they look very good. I know its on the inside what counts, but they did arrive in VERY good balance:

B1: 3.88,3.88,3.88

B2: 3.88,3.89,3.89

I say get the flightmaxes.

I will spank a nitro any day...guaranteed. :)

I run a couple of the Zippy-H 5000 20-30c 3s packs in a VXL Slash geared 29/76. Never had an issue with them running hot, showing any sign of stress or going out of balance. Even at cut off the cells are usually within 0.01-0.02 of each other in terms of voltage, and they take a good 4900 back. Good power and runtime too, even with the silly gearing and heavier Slash.

Considering that they set me back the price of a couple of decent 6 cell nimh packs I am well impressed with them.

I was checking out these packs too. On the Flightmax 30c. The dimensions are all different on some of the packs. The 4s is 140x48x33mm and the 3s is 143x50x24mm.
I wanted to put the 4s in a rustler. I wonder if it would fit?

Looks like it would fit. The Zippy H are some of the biggest cells in terms of physical size and therefore some of the biggest packs around. My 3s just fits into my Slash without an extension kit for height and they are listed at 160 x 51 x 24mm. So provided those dimensions are correct within a couple of mm you should be able to drop that 4s pack into a Rustler as long as you can get or make a hold down for it.

Quite a few people have purchased them here and I am sure we will see some input soon. I know tdc57 has some of the 5000 30c packs and he will run them this weekend at the socal bash.

That info on HC isn't the best, sometimes the measurements are out by a couple mm.

My brother had some zippy-h's both which had a cell that would always discharge more quickly than the others. he ran 6s in a savage conversion, and packs got a bit of warmth to them. still going strong though. The rhinos own though haha.
