Monster Max 8S plans? - 02.15.2009, 06:30 PM

There was talk there for awhile about the possibility of a 8S controller being produced in the Monster Max format.

Is this still a possibility or No?

I for one, would jump on the wagon if it were available.

Same tooling would be used, just different fets and a few changes?

Can I get on the list for beta testing?

Lutach already has a 6S and a 10S controller that he is selling. Just PM him.

Patrick did say they'll be making a 8S and a 10S. It would be nice to see a 12S instead. The MMM is already good for 6S so a 12S would be nice.

Yes, he did talk about maybe doing it.

I can just imagine an 8S setup in a E Revo with........oh let's say........an 1100kv Medusa 80mm can or a 1000kv in the 70mm can.

I just wonder how that would compare to the 2200kv setups? It may be very similiar in performance, but I have a feeling temps would be much cooler.

Cooler temps from lower amps would mean longer runtime too.

IIRC, Patrick did also say something about making a 10S Monster instead of 12S (after he'd confirmed he was working on a design), because he said the braking voltage spikes might be simply too high on 12S. He also made a post somewhere listing some possible spec options, but I can't find it at the moment. It was along the lines of an 8S 300A controller, a 10S 200A, and a few other versions I think.

wow! why would you need a 300a 8s controler? the idea of high voltage is to draw less amps.

Ah...found that post:

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...&postcount=195

I'm sure later on from that he said about 12S being difficult, but I'm sure Patrick can answer that himself if he reads this. :)

Put me on the list for an 8S or higher controller.

I have a couple of 1/5 scales that I want to use them in.

I want the 10-12s capability for a speed run car, and it would be nice for 5th and 1/4 scale conversions. I do agree that I am happy with 6s for 8th scale applications.

If you just want to do speed runs get one of those chinese air escs (turnigy hv sentilon comes to mind). theyre fine if you have mech brakes and dont mind what feels like 100000% punch control (ie very soft start). The soft start isn't a problem if you're just trying to go fast in a straight line :).

PS I have a HV (12s 100A) sentilon for sale if you want, pm me.
