Best esc for medusa 3680-1600? - 02.16.2009, 10:37 AM

My medusa arrived in the mail today
So I fitted it but when I tested it the esc didn't spin the motor as it should. I opened up the esc and tried to test it again and it blew up in my face
It WAS a quark airmaster and I understand it probably blew due to no mechanical brake.
What I really want to know is does the decision between mmm/quark/mgm come down to personal prefference of is there more of a science to it?
The set up is on an e-maxx 3905 on 6s.
I also have a novak motor I was curious to know if I could run that with the speed passion silver arrow esc as a sensored system. Has anyone tried that? The esc is meant to be good for 250A continuous so should easily handle a high revving novak motor... right?

I had to decide between the MMM and MGM a few months ago and ended up with the MMM. It's cheaper, much easier to get support for, has better support available, etc.

EDIT: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18336 That's the thread. I wouldn't buy a Quark, myself, they have a bad reputation for overheating and even catching fire. Considering what you pay for a MMM I don't think you can get anything better.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

MMM is the best bet. I have quark escs too, and they use the same fets as the MM... I believe the MMM will be able to handle more load, so it is a better bet. As far as mgm goes, they are much more expensive than the MMM and you have to send them to czech republic for warranty and repairs, so 1 month min... As far as and CC product goes service is good, and kansas is closer then czech rep. so make your own descision on that one!

I also like the computer interface on the MMM, very easy to setup and change settings.
