8ight-T center diff question - 02.23.2009, 11:50 PM

Hey guys, I have a few questions concerning the center diff on my 8ight-T. I would like too know if a 45t spur is usable with the Rc-monster mount and 14 and 15t pinions. Also will the plastic 45t spur gear from the 8ight-E buggy work with the smart diff? What about the kyosho spurs? I hope someone has the parts to test fit for me. Thanks guys.

I spent the weekend trying (for the 3rd time) to get a kyosho 46 tooth spur (plastic) in the 8T cd with RCM Mount. 2 shims not enough, 3 is too many. Someone said they did it but it will not work for me and I have 50,000 shims lol. I ordered up the LOSA3562 45T Spur Gear, Plastic: 8E 2.0. Ill try that out this weekend. The steel on steel is just too loud for neighborhood bashing, sounds like a F1 is zipping down the street. Neighbors peering out windows shaking their heads.

p.s. the 45t kyosho spur fit perfect on my Muggys CD with 2 shims

To get the 46 kyosho to fit I had to grind the front bearing retainer down to get the proper spacing for the spur then shim the back as required.

As far as I can see, there's no good way to use the Kyosho spur with the RCM mount. Shims don't really help because there just isn't enough room between the two bulkheads to make it work.

I did just finish installing a Kyosho spur on a Smartdiff so that definitely works (real tight fit though). I use the RCPD mount which I don't like nearly as much as the RCM one but it sure is quieter with the plastic spur.
