Guessing you are not a gun fan? I though the Swiss used the citizens as the standing army? That does sound a bit weird now that I have typed it so it must be wrong... I am a gun collector of sorts, never hunt, just target shoot for fun. And I enjoy the complex mechanical working of the oddball designs too.
As far a PDW (personal defense weapon) the US army and others have been looking for a good design for years. The FM P90 seems to be the best so far, as its small round will penetrate the NATO kevlar helmet and has 200m useable range. Not much good without the AP rounds, yet quite a few of the civilian legal models have sold due to the cool looks and the fact it is just different. I was going to buy one, but spent my 1500 bucks elsewhere...
I like this design as it provides a longer barrel, looks to be about 2" longer. It will also fire more accurately due to the stock and foregrip. 9mm is not a bad round, and is effective on non hardened targets. Plus it does have a geewiz factor too!!! I can see it being popular for breifcase use, and as a in vehicle backup weapon. Plus it is very safe when closed, so it leads itself to be mounted under a seat or in a trunk for easy access.
I am sure some remember the mp5k with the briefcase holster that allowed for use of the gun while it was mounted inside... Very cool, if only for the fun factor. I can imagine that alot of practice would be required to use it effectively...
