setup info for my crt.5 - 04.03.2009, 06:21 PM

Okay well i just picked one up. as of right now it has the extended jammin chassis, I will be running a a castle mm with a traxxas vxl motor. I have front rc8 threaded shocks coming to throw on the rear of it. I will also be installing a futaba 3305 servo for now till i can save up some money to get another hitec 7955 tg.

What size mod 1 pinion should i run to start off with.

What tires do most people like for the track with loose dirt. But also can get hard packed sometimes.

First, welcome.

I have 2 set up differently..one is my daughter's ( the 1st. one listed in my sig.) Mine on 3s flies ...so you need to figure out how fast you want to go

1. What size is the motor...3500kv?

2. how many cells are you plan on using?

3. A lot of people like bow-tie tires

4. If you run 3s you should use a bec of some sort

5. regardless of your set up...I'd start w/a 14 or 15t pinion and go from there and adjust according to desired speed and for temps.

yes the traxxas motor is a 3500kv I will be running 2s for now maybe 3s in the future but i dont think so. Just need about 35-45 mph out of it. and again this will be used mostly for track time. So to much power wont be good. As far as my street setup i will be running dirt hawg tires on factory wheels. And using the same battery and motor.

I am running a max amps 4200mah 2s pack and a smc 5000mah 2s pack.

Yea I am not a fan of maxamps either. But got a good deal on it. As for the motor yes I got it already.

As for the setup as long as it goes on the track good I will be happy. Can't wait for my bore reducer to come in so I can test it out

Do you need to borrow a reducer to get running?...

So after a small mishap on my behalf and getting a od .08 pinion from the hobby store. And me not relizing it wasnt a mod 1. Well i snapped the motor shaft on the vxl motor.

So i said it wasnt meant to be. I will be purchsing a medusa motor 3300kv 5mm shaft.

Well for now till i get my paycheck i am running my castle creations 5700kv motor in there. running a 15 t pinion. Well all i can say is i am very pleased with the crt.5.

That being said, I broke a arm about 3 monutes into me driving it. Opps all fixed now and ready to go if the weather gets better for tommrow. Note to self when it stops raining the roads are still damp and you slide out much quicker. Results in rain = broken rear arm when sliding into curb.

I will post some pics up once i get a chance to take some pics for you guys.

I can relate to breaking an a arm...I broke my front one last weekend when someone jumped out and put a tree in my way..... I also bent my front shock shaft so badly, that it was a 1/4" out from being straight.

I really love my crt.5 and my Daughter loves hers as well.
