soldering question

Hey guy,
I was just wondering if it mattered if I solder the BL motor to the speed controller directly or if I use a set of deans connector. Does it make a differnce in the connection? Will it be better to just solder it straight. I guess Im just thinking of maintence and stuff in the future. Easier to just use connectors when I have to remove something under it or something like that. If I use dean connector is this bad? Go straight or deans? Mahalos again for the help guys. Makana

I soldered all my motors directly to the controllers. I think that is how most people here do it as well. I think it has something to do with getting more current to run through the wires and by having deans, you lose a little throgh them. But I'm not the expert, just thought I'd tell you how I run mine.:)

Yeah i heard you lose a bit of power, but if you do want to use connectors use the gold connectors.

Lose a bit of power with what? Deans are the best out there for darn near everything, but the gold plugs would be more convenient because Deans are only 2 pole.

actually the gold bullet connectors are better because they are rated for 75 amps for 3.5mms and 150 for the 5.5s i think while deans are only rated for 45 i think.

I think you lose more power cause of the resistance in the plugs.

FMA rates the Deans plugs at 60amps, but it is rather obvious that larger amp spikes are more than possible... Schulze rates their 3.5mm plugs at 85amps.
