SMC 9000mah e-revo packs - 05.04.2009, 08:40 PM

Well, I got my SMC 9k 28C e-revo lipos from stormer hobbies on saterday. What I have to compare them too is some poly-rc 6k 25c,enerland 6k 25c, true rc 8k 10c, max-amps 6k 20c, and a duremax 5k 25c. Well NONE of them other lipos have anything on the smc's! I am running the e-revo with 20/58 gearing with badlands and the mamba monster 2200 combo. The 9k was faster and had more punch than the others. Also with an outdoor temp of 85° the batteries at the end of the 45min run were only 91°F.

Well performance wise the smc cant be touched by the others, then the duremax, then the true rc, last but not least the enerland and poly rc and maxamps batts ran the worst (couldnt really tell that much of a diff between them)

So If you are loking for one heck of a bad a__ battery then look no further than the new smc's. They are awsome!!!! This is the best lipo battery I have ever seen/bought. I have finally got my moneys worth!!!!!!!(bought time) Hightly recommended

On a side note my cellpro 10s charger has a IR tester for the batts(I know its not really its IR but it give a # for referance to compare other batts too and moniter you pack to make suere they are in good condition)

The smc 9k 28c were at : 1 miliohm
duremax 5k 25c---------: 1.8
true rc 8k 10c----------: 3.8
enerland 6k 25c---------: 4.8
poly rc 6k 25c----------: 5.4
maxamps 6k 20c---------: 5.6

Try my 7800mah packs(conservatively rated capacity and discharge specs) - every bit as powerful as the SMC packs.

Wow, I hadn't noticed those. They sound promising for large-scale conversions though! Can we get those in larger packs like 5s or 6s?

They are perfect ERevo packs. We can offer these in most any configuration needed. Our 5s 5200 mah packs wired in series would be pretty bitchin' in a 1/5 conversion.

Yes, but a pair of 7800s would be more bitchin' I primarily like the higher AH packs because you can charge them at a higher rate. Once the CC part of the charge is done (or just after 30-45 minutes) they've recovered enough charge that if you are really aching to bash again you can take them off the charge and run them for a while.

On a side note, how fast can we charge the 5200s and other RC-M lipos? Is it the same 1C rule as other lipos or can we push them to 2C? The notice that came with my replacement Maxamps lipos said they could be charged at 2C if it was a balance charge. Not like I believe a word they say, but if we needed to have a lipo in a jiffy would it be OK to crank up the amps?

We recommend 1c, but with a good balance charger the packs can take a 2c charge rate uif your in a hurry. Like any battery chemistry, the faster you charge and discharge the packs, the fewer cycles you will ultimately get, but the packs/cells can be charged faster than 1c for sure. I usually charge at about 1.5c.

This is the reason if everyone says get two, i get three, that way i'm covered if i need to hurry. Mike, is the 7800 2s pack same size as the maxamps 8000? I'm more into high volts for my MT and truggy, but i have a T4 setup as a Pro truck and use 8000mah packs. Will the 7800 fit where the 8000 fit?

OK, thanks for the advice. Good to know that, if you're really impatient, it isn't going to cause some kind of catastrophic failure.

I bring 4 lipos when I go bashing but only end up using 1-2 of them. I usually meet up with other people and they need batteries so I lend them mine.

The 2s 7800mah packs are 138L x 43W x 31 - smaller than the MA 8000 packs. More powerful as well. :)
