Might get a Hyper Ste... -
05.28.2009, 12:17 AM
So I am thinking I could do with a Hyper STe (mainly cause the other 40 rcs are getting lonely!)....
Anyways, have a look at this and see what you think. I have a 1509 1.5d (4500kv) plenty of 2s lipos, and a spare MM or 4 lying around. And I am sure something like a futaba 3050 servo will do fine (80+oz/in). Plan to leave the truck bone stock, and try to get it as light as possible. 2s means no need for an external bec, plus 2s lipos are pretty light anyways.
Differential Ratio: 3.9
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 42
Pinion Tooth Count: 18
Total Voltage: 7.4
Motor KV: 4500
Tire Diameter (inches): 3.5
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor coil Ω: 0.004
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 2.1 : 1
Total Ratio: 8.19 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 11 inches (279.29 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 33300 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 42.34 mph
I was not to sure about the tire height, but I figured it has to be over 3"... So geared for around 40, maybe lower, would be where I would have it.
Does this all look right? I got the diff/spur numbers off Stum's posts in his thread.
It just seems like for 160 bucks it is a great deal, and I have some stuff to sell that will pay for it!

I could set this truck up faster than you could mask/paint/decal the body... Not like I have to make a custom chassis with hand tools or wait on a buddy to weld anything...
Plus I could get some of my equipment out of the toolbox and into a rc! Plus i am sure the guy at the RCM bash will have a class for these sized rcs!

Cool, are you going to do any bashing? If so please see how durable of a kit it is.

love the mini STe, thing takes a beating and keeps coming back for more. To date I've not broken ANYTHING :) I did have a screw back out that I missed and lost that and the bearing from the rack but that was my own fault for not checking properlry before running.
I just ordered a 2nd STe for the 158 shipped.. wow what a deal, you can't go wrong iMO. It is currently the best "value" on the market.
My second will get the velineon 3500 system dropped on it, along w/ a traxxas am radio and a hitec servo most likely.

When you say bashing how hard are you talking? I've seen your video and those jumps are around half of what I would be doing when I got the BMX track.

How about I start w/ I don't bash really... I just race so all it see's is track time just as the video shows. I race buggies/truggies for practice; but stuck w/ 1:10 for real races. I've never been to a BMX track but it seems to me you would want a full 1:8 buggy/truggy for that.

Hey Linc. You get this yet? I got mine last week and set it up with an old R1pro I had and got a Medusa 50mm 4800 from Mike and some 2s Neuenrgy 5000 car packs I had from my T4. I brought it with the the track Sunday and was just running laps for fun before the racing started. It handled way better than I thought it would. For goofs put it on the track and ran it with the Monster truck class a main. I only had a half charged pack cuz I didn't bother charging it after playing earlier that morning, but the little thing kicked ass. I was running 2nd behind an e-revo until the pack dumped at around 10 minutes. LOL Got a couple other guys now wanting to pick one up.
Fun little truck. Was just wondering if you got yours and if you got it together yet. I'm really liking mine. Best $160 Ive spent on rc in a while.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Got it today!!!
Very nice looking truck, has al towers hinge pin braces, and shocks. Even has the tires pre-glued! I should have this together pretty quick, but I will take all of the fasteners out and check for thread lock. I have a feeling this will be a fun truck to run at the track, as the balance and weight distribution seem spot on.
