Carnage! By my stupidity!!!! LOL!

HI!... Well I got some unexpected carnage today. Took the old E-REVO out to test the new front spoiler and after about 25 minutes of bashing, I started ti hear a horrible grinding noise. I shut everything off and brought it in the house. At 1ST I thought I broke a driveshaft or axles but they all seemed fine. So I tore down the tranny. The pics below is what I found. When I originally bought my E-REVO it was practically new but used. The previous owner had installed the two speed conversion in the trans. I converted it back to a single speed. But "STUPID" me, when I converted it back to a single speed, I forgot to remove the extra bearing in the trans case. Well after a few months now it must of worked it's way loose and fell into my TRAXXAS CD. It ended up shredding a bunch of teeth off the CD. Everything else in the tranny is perfect. Just not the CD. Oh well I'll have to buy another one.

Since the CD was toast, I decided to take it apart. The "OIL" that's in these things is more like a really thick bearing grease, than oil.

Oops.. Me thinks it's time for steel gears anyways...

HI!... Well the transmission has all steel gears in it from the factory. The CD is the only one that has a plastic gear on it. Does anyone make a CD with a steel gear? Well at least one that doesn't cost a arm and a leg.

Ya know, that's a good question. I just put it out there without thinking whether it was even available. I just looked around on the web and I can't find anyone who makes a steel CD gear. Though you can bet a new nylon gear would last much longer without that bearing loose inside.
