Hyperion 610 Duo... modded charging harness - 06.03.2009, 12:02 AM

Here is my setup for balance charging my 2s packs with Deans and balance taps. The Duo makes it easy to sync the two packs to charge as if it's a single 4s pack. The only reason I did this was to get rid of the adapter boards which I don't want to mess with for my main 2s packs which is what I'm using the charger for 90% of the time. I still have a set of unmolested cables and the adapter boards for use with any other batteries.

btw, you can also wire up a Y harness in a similar way, to connect the packs to a single out put on a 4s charger.... sans the clumsy adapter boards.

Anyway, I picked up an extra set of Hyperion balance board leads, and a couple male balance taps to match my packs.

The other thing I wanted was longer charge leads, which this also does. Now I can set the car next to the charger and the leads reach the packs... if I want to charge them in the car.

Nice job.

One thing I do to any Hyperion style balance connector (on the battery and on the harness going to the charger/balancer is re-order the wires so they can be used with any balancer. I really don't know why they have that silly empty slot(s) scheme. Not only does it make sense, I can use the same harness with 2s, 3s, and 4s packs.

Just curious, why didn't you simply remove the two unused wires?

thanks bro

I thought about rewiring things to be like other brands... stupid hyperion. If I had rewired them, the harness would work with 2,3,4s... but ultimately decided I should leave everything "stock" to avoid confusion and so it would work with someone else's hyperion packs. Stupid hyperion

I just left the wires there for strength/durability of the whole contraption I guess... taped and shrunk to the rest of the wiring.

Something I'm doing to my hyperion taps on the packs... cut off the little lock tab on the connector. Makes them easier to remove, and the conns are plenty tight, don't need the lock tab at all.
