One of the 1/8th clubs around here races on grass using a temporary track that has a different layout each meet. I've been there a couple of times lately with 4 of the other brushless truggy guys. Anyway most of the truggy guys are using these tyres. http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/149932.asp The first time I used them was halfway into the race day after another brushless guy broke his diff, so he let me borrow these tyres. Straight away I was a lap and a half faster than with MT crime fighters. I haven't used badlands, but the ones I have seen ballooned a fair bit, and weren't as responsive, because of the big side wall, plus I would say they're heavier.
There slightly shorter, so you might need to adjust gearing a little if you want the same top speed. You also need to use the hyper ST style rims, because instead of a vertical bead, they have a horizontal bead (seems to hold much better).

Nice. Is the track one of the places you posted before when I was asking for places to run my truck?

Anyway, we'll be there in a few weeks but I didn't bring my truggy with me. I still have to receive the replacement battery tray from Mike so I left my truggy at home. I was really looking forward to run my truggy in Perth. Oh well.

Too bad your not bringing your car, I would have been able to sort something out if I knew about the tray. Were you still planning on going to some races?

I'm still planning to attend some races. You probably know when our ship arrives in Perth. I can't give you details through here since it's confidential information

So anyone looking for good handling grass tires, have a look at these ones. Part number is MV3695S, and are also sold under the Great Vigor brand. LHS got in a lot of these since they probably there most popular truggy tire(had nearly as many of these as the rest of the truggy tires combined). They're good enough for they're own thread.

Width when mounted on the hyper ST rims is 72mm (2.83"). Diameter on the flat area, between the spikes is 130mm (5.12"). Total diameter at end of spikes 138mm (5.43"),

Thanks. Those might be the in between tire for the 1/10th scale too. Most of the maxx size tires (I've checked into) are too big, wide, or heavy to really run on a 1/10th . These seem to be a little larger then the 2.2 mashers and badlands but smaller then a stock e-maxx is. I like the badland style also. Sounded like you felt they were pretty light also. I'm going to get a set to try out. Thanks for posting it up.
