Talking Finally getting a Revo - 06.14.2009, 06:34 PM

I'm trading my RC18T FT for a Revo 2.5 conversion!!!

I know it's an old 2.5 but considering I'm trading my RC18T FT it's a great deal. I've always wanted a E Revo but I have never had the money. It has a home made motor mount and battery/esc mounts. I'm going to get a Tekno RC battery tray and try to keep the original mount. It needs a Slipper/Spur but that is a very cheap fix, what # of teeth should I get? It comes with a HobbyCity 2000kv motor and a burnt out eZRun 80A. I'm going to get some Turnigy 5k 15C 5S Li-Pos so I'll have around 37000rpm. It is locked in 2nd gear and has Masher 2000 tires so what should I start off with pinion gear wise? I'm going to get a eZRun 150A ESC since you can get them from www.nitrorcx.com for only $100.

I'm so happy that I'm finally getting a Revo. It's been my dream RC ever since people started to convert them and it's finally becoming true.

For an extra $40 you could get a mmm and not worry about it. To figure out gearing use the speed calculator in BrianG's signature. Spurs for the nitro revos are 38 & 40, there another but I don't recall if it's a 36 or a 42. I would suggest gearing for low 30's, then with tire ballooning you'll be close to 40

I might but that $40 could be a new set of tires... I'm not worried about the extra programmable options of the MMM since I'm going to bash 98% of the time and I've heard good results from the eZRun 150A. I played around with the gearing calculator and 13/36 would give me 35mph. I think I'll run that to start off with...

I understand than the extra $40- could be used for tires, but, if you have ANY probs. w/the controller you are talking about, it will cost you most of the money you saved just to ship it back, not to mention customer service for castle is superior.....I would definitely spend the extra on the mmm and then not worry about it.....just my 2 cents worth

You should get a job. $40/$6.55= well under 7 hours of work after taxes. That's one or two days... Then when min. wage goes up to $7.25 near the end of july you'll get even more...

What would I need to convert it to an E-Revo. I like the design of the chassis better because it looks more balanced and clean. I would just need a chassis, tranny, and maybe a few other small things right... Unless you think I would be better off sticking with the Conversion...

The plastic chassis and trans, possibly center drive shafts ? Everything else will swap over.

OK any advantages to sticking to the 2.5 chassis? I remember people saying the plastic chassis wasn't as durable but I could just make a rear brace right?

I know some people have had problems, I havn't yet. I've seen the rear brace mod here RCM,seems easy enough if it's a concern.

I'll have to see how much it will cost to convert it. A E Revo roller go for $200 on eBay so I might be able to sell the Revo and use the money to get a ERBE Roller.

Biggest expense in converting to a real e-revo is the trans. You can use your current front driveshaft, but you will need a new longer rear shaft, and the erevo center skidplate. You might get lucky like I did and find someone converting to nitro and selling the electric parts.

How old are you turning? Make sure to check out the fast food places; they hire and fire people all the time. That, and most of the people that work there are funny and like to dick around.

I've seen rollers for $75 on ebay, still need a tranny which will set you back about another $25-30 on ebay if your patient. Depending on what you already have and what you need for the truck you might be better off selling what you have and starting fresh. No question about the MMM either, save up and get it rather than the ezrun IMO. The MMM v3 has proven to be a pretty solid controller. I have 2 and neither have given me any trouble, I race and bash and they get dirty, dusty, and wet and keep going. When my v1 and v2 died they where replaced without question
