got a eight-t roller and now? - 06.29.2009, 06:11 AM

hello.

yesterday i got myself a used eight-t roller in good shape.
and now i will convert it with this kit:

http://global.ebay.com/HobbyPro_Brus...219504309/item

and i will use this combo:

http://www.swanghobby.com/hobbywing-...-s-pr-723.html

i will try it at 4s lipo and 2s2p a123 cells, so what advises for me since itīs my first 1/8 truggy conversion.

i check the car and it have amazing construction and space to convert.
and for now i have some doubts about pinion/and spur gear to use and viscosity of the diffīs mainly ther center one...
should i use the smart diff too?

regards

If you're running 4s lipo, don't waste your time with those a123's, IMO.

Also, just a question, but why those components? If you're looking at dropping $50-90 on a smartdiff, why don't you use the Losi conversion or Mike's mount and tray?

losi conversion cost me twice the price and for here portugal will pay more aduanary taxes so it will take more time to received,
the chinese combo 4 days is here and i have already one on a rc8 and is real good for the price and comes with pinion gear also.

and what about the combo i have do you think will handle good on this truggy and will run cooler?

until i was running it in my erevo at 2s2p a123 with good speed and no termal issues...

thankīs in advance

If it ran your ERevo, then you should be fine in the truggy. Just gear for 40mph or less and watch your temps.

I don't think you mean 2s 2p - that would only be 6.6v 4600mah

6s2p on which motor may I ask? If the one previously linked, I wouldn't suggest that route. More than likely will end in disaster.

maybe i havenīt explain correct.
i mean connect 2s2p in series that means 13.2 volts not 6.6v......
currently i run this setup in my erevo with great sucess and if it works good too in the 8t i donīt exchange them for lipos.............. i enjoy pretty much the a123 batteries!!

i talk lipos because i also have two packs of this ones next that i canīt use on the erevo trays:

http://cgi.ebay.com/EC-POWER-10000mA...3A1%7C294%3A50

i have space for them on the 8t chassis so letīs see how will they work...

regards

Ok, I understand your A123 voltage, but are you running (2) 2s2p packs in series for a 4s2p combination? Or are you running 2s2p's in series to make 4s1p?

Also, if those lipo's are anywhere near the Zippy's in quality, you'll notice a huge difference over the A123's. Also be aware that the 4s lipo voltage is 14.8V where your A123's are 13.2. Besure to adjust you gearing accordingly.

i run 13.2 volts at 4600mah, is that 4s2p or 4s1p???
these lipos i have them for almost 2 months and only now in this car i will test them seriously...
i am thinking gearing this 2350kv hobbywing motor at 14 or 15 pinion to 48 stock spur...
i have also purchase 2 losi plastic spur gears one 43t and the other 45t.
and i have already take a look at the losi center smart diff but first i will test the car stock...
should i put lighter or heavier lube in the diffīs for working with brushless??
i know that it comes with 5 front, 7 center and 1 back....

regards

13.2V at 4600mah equals a 4s2p setup. Thanks for clearing this up. A truggy should provide plenty of testing for those Lipo's. Just watch them on your first runs to make sure they aren't heating up excessively or puffing and they should be fine.

Personally I would stick to the 14T to start off and watch your temps. Use a temp gun for accurate reading also. Then based off the performance, gear up or down. You may find the need to up the center fluid to 10 or maybe even 20k fluid. Just pay attention to the front wheels unloading more than normal.

Also, I'm not sure of your intentions, but I wouldn't use that esc/motor if your looking for a speed demon. Like previously stated. I would stick to sub 40mph applications.

i have a temp gun and i will check the temps of the motor mainly!!
i have a 15 pinion for now but lets see what pinion arrive with the chinese kit i bought and my intentions are a good and balance car for track mainly and getting between 35 to 40 mph..
are my intentions and donīt need more to smoke some nitros on tracks around here!!

i will post pictures of the conversion and one more question only.
i bought two losi plastic gears from eight-e for center diff, they fit truggy also correct?

regards and thankīs for your helpful info nitrostarter.
