more on motor probs - 06.30.2009, 12:59 AM

the novak was an hv 7.5 / 3000kv and it worked well when it wasnt shutting down on a slap landing or destroying a fan every three to six runs.and it wouldnt run cool w/o.So here i am trying somthing else and still having heat and response trouble, sorry bout all the tears.I called castle today and of coarse they said its my batteries and to be honest i hadnt tried the track power 4900 3s 29c because its huge,so i tried it today on grass and the response wasnt usefully better or perseptably better. after two or three minutes the ESC 159 motor117 the guy at castel was telling me that the extra cap and BEC might work but that they were just bandages covering up a problum and on his suggestion i tried my best cells to cross that of the list. So as it stands now this sertup aint cuttn it . the options are to try the BEC,extra cap,see if i can find a real high C 3s that i can test with for a run ,get a mamba monster ,OR? also on 2s at 35c it was cool and had about the same lag problum

I love how you start a new thread right where the old thread left off... You know you can keep posting in the old thread and we will find it...

I would try the bec. If that does not help with temps you may have a bad esc.... I have no idea on that. I have run MM escs in emaxxs with crap motors and not had any issues.

I am guessing you do not have any drivetrain drag or binding? Pull the pinion off and roll the truck on smooth ground. Just make sure, as binding will cause huge heat issues.

its a crt.5 rcm with truck tires,13/46gear,mamba max,medusa36-60-3100kv,on 3s490029c. The motors never been hotter than160 .the esc runs 140/160.The truck weighs 5lbs 5oz and the drive train is fresh and free rolling

dougs motor probs - 07.04.2009, 10:43 PM

so guys i finaly found a buddy with a thunder power 4900 40c 2s to do a final check on the" my cells arent powerful enough" theory.and its the same thing no throtle respons on the bottom and gobs mid and high imput but even at full throtle if i peddle it it takes time to rev back up, im thinkin the 36-60 3100 is to much motor for this ESC. However im still thinking about the bec and the cap. but im not clear on how to wire it in or what and how it will improve my problum. I think the reason the esc is getting hot "only" on 3s is that its to much motor(36-60/3100) and that if i switched to a 36-50 on 2s it might get better.Any expiriences like that out there?

Sounds like you have a lot of punch control programmed into the esc, Doug.

no more motor probs - 07.10.2009, 12:34 AM

To all that contributed to this resolution all my thanks. At home im on a mac so i cant run the link myself, and all the problums were me depending on others knowing what they were doing. And they didnt. The truck is now fantastic and on 2s very drivable, and 3s is fun but only for bashing, on 11/46 gearing it blows the tires up so fast and big its something to watch and my fluids are f5/c7/r3 witch is what alot of folks run on there 1/8 buggies. So to M Mike and everyone else THANKS!
