!!HELP!! Gearing and the Jammin x1 CRT Truggy - 07.18.2009, 05:40 AM

Guys, just wanted to know if there is anything special i need to know when gearing this Truggy? im currently using a 46t Spur and 13t Pinion 4s1p lipo. With this gearing, its saying i can get 48mph, I decided to drop it down to a 10t Pinion and get 38MPH, is there ANY problem running a 10T RCM pinion with this Truggy? If im not mistaking doesnt this Truggy use 43/13 front/rear diff gearing? I know that most truggies use 43/10. This truggy also came with a 62t Spur to start, and its just way to big, so its why i went with a small Spur any probs doing this?. Also doesnt the JAMMIN Diffs need to be Shimmed? I took apart the center diff and seen several shims I just dont want a busted drive train. Lots of INFO needed on this issue, thanks!

The X1-CRT did come with 13/43 diffs, hence the 62t spur. Depending on which motor mount you have you might not be able to gear it 10/46, but I don't know which mount you have (my CRT uses the CR buggy mount).

As for the diffs, if you are worried then just crack them open. I bought mine used, and doubt the previous owner ever looked at the diffs, and they were fine.

I use the CR buggy mount on my crt and i had to lengthen one of the mounting slots to use an 11t pinion with the kyosho 46t spur. but i have heard that the CRT mount goes down to 10t pinion with the 46t spur.

i use a 1515 1y 2200 and id say the lowest u could really go is 12 and even then the center brace may need to be shaved to let the motor clear on the backside, i reccomend hotbodies truggy ring and pinions so then u have more gearing options running a 46t spur.

As mentioned, aside from physical clearances that may need to be checked, there's no problems in running 10:46 or 11:46 gearing. My Kyosho DBX also has a 43:13 diff ratio and I'm currently running 13:46. I plan to run 16:46 as I want a bit more top speed (seems to be around 32mph right now). My mount on the DBX is a custom hack job by me so I can adjust it as much as I'd like. It did require some cutting here and there though to get those physical clearances to allow me to run certain pinions.
I like riverrat's suggestion about the HB 43:10 R&P if they fit.

What if you put 8ight-t Diffs in front/center/rear? should be a direct fit right?

i couldnt tell ya i just know hot bodies lsp diffs are a great fit, and the pinions are close in length as well

I also want to run a smaller spur gear in my Mutilator (43/13) because the stock spur is just way to big for the CR mount. I was wondering where you guys found the Kyosho 46T spur gear and if it was steel or plastic. I'm also concerned about the Kyosho gear fitting on my center diff housing. I have a 50T Jammin CR spur gear and it does not fit on the Muti diff housing-the diameter on the housing is about 1mm too big.

Just wondering why you guys are opting to use the Kyosho gear and not the Jammin CR 48T spur gear?

Correction on my last post-I guess it is a 48T CR spur gear and I did get it to fit on the Muti diff housing with very little sanding.

i use a 46t spur in my jammin, and wow did it wake up after the conversion, way more off the line and more control in rythem sections.

Riverat, are you saying it 'woke up' after switching from a 62 to 46T spur gear or just the brushless conversion in general?

Couple other questions-

Why did you switch to the smaller spur gear?

Is there a benefit with the Kyosho gear over Ofna/Jammin 48T spur gears like wider teeth or something?

I don't think Losi diff gears will work in anything besides their own cars. Remember, the rear diff R&P are flipped, and the teeth are very narrow (only about 4mm wide).
