Think my radio is dying..

I think my Airtronics M8 is starting to die, or at least the potentiometers..

Ever since I have had it, its Center is different from that of newer radios, Dx30 and 2.0, It seems as if the potentiometer is Offset compared to the wheel... I need to set end points in the 30's on the right side of the range, and end points in the 120's on the left. and then i still dont get full travel on the left side...


And at the end of the steering wheel travel to the left there is a dead zone where any servo will not move when the tx wheel is.. All this is pointing to the steering potentiometer.. does anyone have any insight on this?

I know what your talking about, it happend to my helios a few weeks ago... cost me $40 to get a $5 part replaced

Well im not paying for anything, i have a few radio pots from my Usb transmitter endeavors... Im going to get the radio now and tear it down.

thats what I thought too... then the center and epas were all Fed up...

yep its bad enought to where if i want to try my friends spektrum radio on my truck, i need to move the servo arm...

Interesting I'm getting similar on my dx3.0 - I have everything set to max ranges in order to get the ESC to bind or get reasonable steering.

i was about to contact spektrum about it - any idead if user fixable?

the part number for the dx series steering potentiometer is 109TU

Small, square black potentiometer.

I wish radios would make the pots an easily replaceable item able to be done by the end-user. Or better yet, change them to a rotary encoder.

encoder would be way easier..

Pots suck.


Air tronics makes it easy.. the whole front cover of my radio comes off with 3 allen screws..

Spektrum basically said send it in for non warranty repair and they'll have a "look" at it...

They say they don't have many pot issues...

Have you guys tried resetting the travels?

I had this issue with my DX3R, where the steering wheel would always be to the right.

After I reset it, CORRECTLY, it worked.
When I tried it, I'd move it, to try and "calibrate" it at the wrong moment, and would end up with the problem.

Before doing surgery, try doing the full radio reset..
