Heard a rattle in my M.M.M.

I'm going through my E-Revo doing some mods and changing up some stuff and removed the ESC from the chassis, I heard a rattle like a pebble or somthing in the case so I opened it up. Plunk, out falls this do-hicky. You can see where it came from via the screw driver and I have no clue what it is or whats it's for but I guess It's best that I send it back to Castle for Inspection/repair.
Funny thing is I have no clue how long this has ben like this, I last ran the truck 2 weeks ago and it was a perfect run. 50 minutes and cool temps when complete. Put the truck away and that was that. Finially received all the parts I ordered and started disassembly and found it as you see it ?

Hmm....

No idea, I was just thinking that it would be easier for someone like Lutach or BrianG to identify it if they cold see the markings- I know a Castle rep would be able to without any problems, would be worth emailing them and pointing them to this thread. Given its size & posistion though, it seems like it might be at risk of being jarred loose upon a hard landing or sudden jolt.

Thank you for your input, I'm PM Brian and see what the Guru has to say. Regardless It's gotta go to castle but the curiosity is killing me as to WTF it is ?

looks like some kind of Surface mount resistor to me.

I have no idea. Could be a cap, resistor, diode, TVs, inductor... pretty much any 2 pin device. The markings don't say much. If I was to guess, I'd probably say diode, TVS, or inductor.

Brian nailed all the components that could be and it looks like it can be resoldered to the PCB.

Thanks Guys, I lost the little chip on my Bench. DAMMIT ! Hope Castle will not need it ? I'm gonna ship it out Monday,hopefully turn over will be quick so I can resist the urge to pull one out of my other trucks.

Wonder if this is the little part thats coming lose thats causing so many problems for these poor guys having meltdowns ??????

COuld there be a defect in the soldering process thats not allowing these items to bond properly? My MMM has been at cc for almost a month now and it JUST got onto the repair floor...

I am fully aware of that and also that it is another inductor and that "there have only been 3 componets come off the board" and the shock loads are extreme. To which I have replied my findings. If I am wrong then I am wrong, but the leads are still there and and looks cleanly broken from the solder. Could be a manufacturer defect on the part itself, who knows but it's not bonding there obviously. 100G's I have already shown the load of 100 G's on a part of that size.

Actually that component has the markings of our 10V and 30V TVS

Well, not only are you missing a part, but the inductor is also physically broken. The inductor is the part right next to the missing part (square with a circular interior.) It should be symmetrical, the bottom left corner (in your picture) is missing. Without that piece of ferrite, the magnetic path is broken, and the part won't perform correctly.

I would suggest that you return it for repair. The impact that broke free the TVS was hard enough to break the inductor. What did you hit??

Did you read the directions how to open the case each time? Hope you didn't do with a screw driver going in too deep.

Nope, I heard the rattle of the do-hicky befor I opened it.
And luckily for me I have some common sense.
