Help with out of balance lipo........

ok, so the other day I took my truck out and it stopped running. Turns out, one of the cells in my 6S lipo is out of whack with the others. I've only charged it and discharged it in balanced mode with the brand charger. What do I do? Keep charging and discharging until all is ok? Or do I throw it out the window, because it's going to explode??

Battery is 1 year old Hyperion 6S (enerland cells), and charger is the hyperion ac/dc unit. HELP!

one cell is going bad, nothing lasts forever. i'd charge and dischare one more time and if the one cell is still behind take it out before it ruins all of them.

What are the voltages before and after charging on each cell?

Nothing lasts forever, but they're only a year old, and have only been cycled under 10 times! Everybody said go Enerland, WTF??

Anyway, was able to charge/ discharge the pack a few times, though this came with a number of warnings from the balancer. However, I noticed today that one of the cells in the pack seems a little puffed. Now what? Do I need to remove that cell and dispose of it, or is this salvageable?

Also, if I have to remove it, is there a tutorial anywhere that shows you how to do this??

Even the best lipos will still have failures. Lipos are prone to failure since they are relatively delicate and the internal chemistry can get out of wack easily. Sorry to say, but you probably just got a bunk cell.

Its easy enough to remove the dead cell, just requires a good iron and possibly some special solder, though all you should need to do is desolder the wires and relocate them- see BrianG's site for a diagram of before and after:

I think the trouble is sometimes people start with a larger model that requires expensive electronics, and tend to fail more often due to the amounts of power and potential for damage; nothing like starting small and working your way up to get you used to things...

Agreed, I had several friends jump in with both feet and were quickly consumed with the tediousness and small factors than can easily ruin there prodject becuase due care wasn't excersised. A few were blown away buy how technical this hobby really is and flat out gave up befor venturing forward. Some refused to do their homework and lost several hundreds due to bad decisions,IE gearing etc. and said "This hobby sucks!" when it's their own dam fault ?

Yeah, you are one of the few people who have actually had failures with a Enerland lipo pack, they simply have a good track record. Nothing is foolproof, nor perfect quality.

Talk the Lincpimp about changing around the pack, he will have some good info for you.

Yeah dude... disassemble it and check the solder joints, the balance cables and maybe connectors... sometimes they do fail, but you'd usually see that bad cell degrading... I bet it's just something simple.. and if it is bad, run 5S...
