Gearing for a E-Revo w/10xl and 16 cells?? -
02.12.2006, 04:24 PM
i will be running my E-Revo with a maxx tranny, 10xl motor, 9920, 16 ib 4200 cells, and revo slipper assembly with a 40 tooth mod1 spur. what would be a good place to start for gearing? i was thinking of 16 or 18 but dont want to buy a 16 or 18 and it be under of over geared since the pinions arent to cheap. any help would be greatly appriciated.

A 40t slipper? Id try a 13 or 14 t to start with on the save side, the less teeth on the spur the more speed, but since its a 10XL on 16 cells you could get away with a 15t. But id try somthing lower so your controller doesnt have problems. hope this helps.
The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

well i just tried it and it wobbles ever so slightly so it looks like im going with the strobe system. any ideas where to start with that? also remember, brushless can fry from being under and over geared so starting to low will be just as bad as starting high.

Now you change up on me. ;) Well I would go 18 51 or so. That would make it run. With a low kv motor and a low cell count for it. It is not as bad as if you push your motor.
Peace!

Yes 18/51 sounds about right, and if it isnt doing the best , you can get away with a 20.

You can run a 20. I have ran a 20 on a 9xl with 16 cells.

I think it would be ok, but by the looks of it, it will be no faster than a hv-maxx, and it will not have very good torque. Sorry to hear about the bad cell :(

Hey run it on 12 squee and let us know how it does. I think it may be more than slyvester says. No offense slyvester. ;) I have seen a recommendation on the 10 xl of 12 - 20 cells. I would try it.
Peace!
