Looking for an alternative to Feigao.

I've got a Feigao 7XL in my E-Maxx which touched 211F at the time pinion had worked itself loose from the shaft. I want to purchase a 8XL or 9XL, but I'm wondering if the experts could point me at some alternate brands with similar performance. The truck is a basher, not a speeder, so I just want a cooler running motor. I've got a plethora of pinions and spurs, so achieving the current speed (35mph) isn't an issue.

Whether a motor will run cool or not depends on how u size the motor as well as the application for it. A bigger motor may run cooler but that doesn't mean that it is more efficient. But given the same motor, a cooler motor is definitely more efficient. It sounds to me that u merely need a more efficient motor. Why don't u try the CC Neu? It seems to be a highly efficient motor from all the reviews I've heard of it. I don't own one myself but will definitely get one in the future.

I guess I should've stated I'm on a budget, and the price range of the motor should be the same as Feigaos. So, similar performance and price range.

LOL. Ok then how about a used CC neu? Feigaos are getting more expensive but their quality doesn't seem to be getting better.

There are no alternatives to a Feigao motor, the Feigao motor IS the alternative to a good motor such as Neu, Tekin, or Medusa. Save yourself a headache and get a high quality motor, you will be glad you did.

I know right?? Feigaos are like 70 bucks now with shipping! It's a shame I gifted the two Medusas I bought at 40% off to members of my local R/C club, I could've popped in the 36-60-1800 into the E-Maxx instead and get equal, if not better, performance out of it. I guess I'll have to scrounge around for a used CC NEU or HPI Torx motor.

Yeah, I guess I'll wait till the CC Neu 1800Kvs come along. I also dropped an email to Mega, but their motors are almost as expensive NEUs, but totally worth it; today I ran my E-Revo so hard one tire eventually came off the rim completely and still the motor was <160F, in 85+ humid weather.

A higher turn feigao would run cooler, the 7XL is a spinning toaster of death. That said, you will still have temp issues if you dont take cooling down breaks with any feigao type motor.

Spinning toaster of death is right; a nitro driver who wasn't aware of the nuances of electric setups nearly grabbed the motor and heatsink in his fist but I was close enough to push him away, and then he went into goldfish mode when I showed him the temp reading.

Medusa still has some 36-60-2000's. More then adequate for a 40mph E-maxx. I used mine for over a year, between E-revo and E-maxx.

Yup, 7XL is a step away from nuclear fusion reaction... I got 230+F temps after 10 mins a few days before it died.
