Xray 808....rebirth - 09.15.2009, 12:01 AM

So last night I was pretty psyched to win a auction on flea-bay. It was for my dream rig the X-ray 808. I immediately purchased Mikes 2pc mount, tray, and pinions. I have only really ran a 8T but lately have been thinking of building something to go to the track with.

I have a MMM/2200 in the 8ightT but plans are in the works after my next check to buy a Tekin RX8 w/ 1700kv motor. I have some Neu Lipos 4s 5s and 6s all 4100mah.

I really just wanted to share since Im anxiously looking forward to the package. The rig purchased was from a sponsored driver who put only about 1/4 tank thru. Sounds like a solid deal and it has already been shipped with tracking.

I was wondering if someone could recommend a nice/decent servo that wont break the bank. I almost bought a 7955tg Hitec but didn't really want to drop the coin on such a expensive servo. Suggestions on something that would be good would be a great help.

Other then that I will posting my progress and inevitable questions on this thread. I am no guru like some of the guys on here. I work alot of hours but this hobby always puts a smile on my face and fullfills my freetime.

I guess I could link to my find as its the only pics I have so far....

Ya I read that last night after I bought my buggy....I guess we are kinda on the same page, so to speak. I am really not really worried about the weight as much as just having a sick buggy that can maintain thru the pounding that my bad driving will serve. I have been doing quite a bit of research nonetheless. I hope the commonality of our threads don't bug too much, as I only posted out of excitement of the new buggy purchase and finally trying Mikes product.

Well I got her today. I left work early and started digging into it without wasting any time. I ordered Mikes mount and it showed up today as well. I was not in the door 5 min before I started the dismantle. I even forgot to take before pictures.

So I showed a picture of the front shock tower with a drip of CA glue...I am a bit of a perfectionist on my builds and I am trying to talk myself out of ordering a new $20 tower. I have already ordered the top plate to the front bulkhead. I don't think that the glue will come off so I dunno. This was my first little disappointment but for the price I guess I cannot complain. I am shocked at how light the rig is compared to the xb8 that my buddy has.

I will take some pictures of Mikes mount in a minute also.

Outdrives are pretty perfect and minimal slop. Mine has only had about quarter gallon ran thru it. So far so good. I really think I am going to order two new towers...its $40 and they will only get beat eventually but it bugs me anyhow.

great looking buggy. xrays are tanks. my XT8 has over 30 races on it the only part that shows wear is the drive pins.
