flooding in atlanta....never thought id see it....I know its not as bad as other places around the world....but in atlanta....worst part...insurance companies dont protect against flood damage.....
Flooding is never any good. It can take years to get your houses/buildings cleaned out.
FYI, there is a new(er) fed law that requires insurance companies to offer flood insurance, and it dictates pricing based on your homes risk level. They just had a blurb on our news about it last week - we get major flooding every year in one or more parts of the Puget Sound area.
Sad thing is, in the UK atleast, building firms want to put more houses up (good thing|), but they pay no attention to things like flood planes and dont bother to check the local history for reguklar flooding events (bad thing). I can only imagine its the same in the US in alot of places, though freak incidents arent so easy to work around....
well, i got a chance to study the flood plans in the area, and the sad part is......the flood plan worked....it just consisted of closing over 100 roads, cutting people off from homes, and closing a 4 lane and 14 lane highway....

Its exactly the same Neil. You see them building all over the place in places that anyone who has been around can tell you that every 5 years min, those places get wiped out. Then a year later you see those same people on the news wanting to know why the gov't hasn't done more for them. I say, go buy that house on the bluff............
