Wow. Thanks man that is the coolest thing I've seen in while!

When the arc starts ionizing the flames and running down the whole tree it gets really intense!

Nice!!

I stay far away from all things AC powered..

A few years back ( i was like 12) was walking up the street towards the bus stop to head to school a squirell has made a nest inside a grey cylindrical transformer, and made a wrong step when i was under it, thing went up, Made the strangest- scariest noise i have ever heard in my life... Not gonna lie- i pissed my pants that morning

cool vid, I don't think I would be standing that close though...

I used to live near a transformation station thingy, at least once aweek the you would hear a bang and the power would go out...

That is seriously intense, I have never seen a tree conduct like that, ya sure they usually have a few arcs, but that! It must have started turning into a piece of carbon and just took off.

That is because you were overloading the sub station with your grow operation.

I witnessed a transformer going, all you hear is raw current and it's just like ball lighning, thankfully I was ~100 yards from it, but it did leave spots in my eyes for 5 or 10 minutes. I was a welder for years, and this was as bad as my worst case of close range flashburn.

Incredible video, you think it's done, then it sends the test current- look out for that!

Judging by the height of the wires, those are likely high voltage lines. When the branches contacted the wires, it started heating up the sap until it ignited and just ran down the trunk.

BB: "I stay far away from all things AC powered.."

Well aren't brushless motors sorta AC... have we stumbled on the origins of the BB curse? Do streetlights come on/go out when you pass lol?

But Ben, I can touch 500,000+ volts from my Tesla Coil and nothing happens... It's AC.

hehe But it's all radio frequency AC, and not 60hz, which is what kills you, not the voltage, it's roughly 300 - 400 kHz frequency, so you just don't really feel anything.

I heard a transformer explode not too far from me on a rainy night once. I didn't see it but heard it and the thing is, I was working at ICI explosives at that time and was just walking from one building to another. I heard a bang and ended lying face down in the mud trembling like a leaf.

No brain, no headaches.
