Two motors on one esc can be done, but they need to be "in sync" as on a common spur with rotors in the same position. Driving seperate axles will not work, as the motors will almost never be "in sync".

btw
I will be using a MMMV3 on 2 (2s 5000 in parallel) so 2s and 10000mah in my clod driving the stock brushed motors. I "may" pick up some hotter brushed motors if it seems to slow.

Unless of course you figure out some reasonable way to run two brushless motors on one monster.

Anyone ever tried to run 14.8 volts thru stock brushed motors? Just a thought if I get bored with the parallel version I can always go series very easy. lol

It's my understanding that any twin-BL motor setup will always require 2 ESCs. Even using the flat on the shaft for reference is useless. The flats will have been ground at a random point in relation to the rotor. Sounds like trouble to me... but if you're game then give it a shot.

doo, 14.8 (16.8) lipo will overcurrent your brushers. I bought crap MA packs before going BL on my Maxx, still got the stock titans over 300F. Fried 'em proper, melted both armature fans, stunk like hell...

I did however run 2 of the old Traxxas 'stinger' motors on 14.8 Nimh, those were 7.4V motors, they ran hot, but it worked ok.

I read a older post from Joe Ford from castle and he says it cannot be done.

If you don't have flat spots already ground on the shaft and you perfectly sync the motors with each other driving a common spur gear it'll work, I've seen it done. I saw a guy do it and it ran like crap and burned up his ESC, go with a pair of ESCs and save yourself the hassle.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

I've got a couple clodzillas I run, 1 stock tamiya motored, the other has some kind of aftermarket 27t motors. You would be suprised how they run on 4s. I don't know how well they would hold up in a race, or for long periods of time, but I have ran mine a fair amount without burning them up, I guess because they are geared so low.

If you cut your MMM very carefully, in half, you might get two Hobbywing 80A speeders out of it.....

Junkman- brushed motors have a very short life with lipos in my exp., and this includes planes, helis and trucks. Normally brushed motors pull more than they're fed with Nimh. But the huge difference in current makes lipo/brushed almost as bad a combo as BL/Nimh, me thinks. Others may have few or no issues, but I sorta doubt it.....

That is really two things at play iMO... brushed motors were fine w/ nimh because your packs wouldn't last anywhere near as long as the typical 5k lipo so you spent more time cooling than racing :) not to mention only the best nimh would hold as high of voltage through the length of the pack when even compared to a generic lipo let alone a high end matched lipo pack. So it's the current and the run times.. if you run in 7min intervals (less than 10) and let cool they, brushed motors, last a LOT longer. One other thing that happens is the brushed guys are trying to get too many MPH out of their motor more times than not and this too kills the motor quickly.

All just my opinion.. of course :)

Yeah Nimh and brushed play nice together. I'll use a stupid analogy- if a brushed motor was a lawnmower engine, then feeding it stale low octane gas (Nimh) works fine. Now take that same engine and feed it pure ether, NOS, and put a turbo or two on it (lipo, duh).

I've seen it more often than not... but hey most of us won't miss the scorched carbon odor.

Finish 'em off right!

I wanna see you run a lawn mower on pure ether or nitrous oxide... wont last long
