Aluminum or...

I am new here nd got back into RCs after my last MC crash. Saved the old RC10 for just the case but anyway....Is good quality aluminum better then say RPM? (I did a search already) I have had good luck with the RPM stuff so I figure aluminum might not be as good but if you want to have both good looks and strength then you need good aluminum. I wish Titanium was available but also wonder if the Flex techs are good if you could get hands on them.

I prefer something like RPM over alum. most of the time. Aluminum is heavy, expensive and can still bend. If it's bent far enough, bending it back will just break it. Also your truck needs to have inexpensive weak points.

It really depends on what you want to do with the vehicle in the first place. If you are in a hurry and just want to race or bash it about, than there are plenty of nylon, plastics, and composites to shoose from that will get you where you wish to be. If you are planning to make a vehicle that not only runs well but is tough as nails and looks like the top dog, then aluminum and titanium is the good choice. Weight is not that much of an issue unless you are competing on the track or trying to break some kind of speed records. Besides with the right metal parts you can have a vehicle that weighs close to what the plastic toys weigh these days, but be strong enough to smash the toys. The final part of the equasion is how big is your wallet? If you have a limited budget then you should stick with the plastic toy parts. Going with the metal bling look will cost you big time.

RPM would be the best bet for the RC10.
If you install aluminum arms then the bulkheads will be the weak points. Aluminum bulkheads and aluminum arms will cause the pins to bend and or shear and the arms will bend anyway. (with a hard impact of course)
With RPM, 9 times out of 10 the chances are the truck will bounce off the inmovable object and motor away.

I agree with what said above.
Plastic keeps the flex for some give.
The aluminum is low flex so transfers more impact to other areas.
I had all aluminum one time but went back to stock parts.
