Don't use the slow shipping from HC -
11.28.2009, 08:47 AM
I ordered and paid for my item (A BL motor XL 1100KV) on the 10th of Nov.
Received email from HC that my item shipped on the 11th, I was happy because that was fairly quick
Well, after several days then over a week went by without any tracking info I was starting to wonder ?
Just tracked it again this morning for the first news in 16 freakin' days !
"Your item left HONG KONG AIR MAIL CENTRE, HONG KONG on November 27, 2009. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."
So it's probably still over a week or two away from arrival ??
I'm not in a hurry, but I seriously think from now on I'll spend the few extra bucks to upgrade the shipping. The thing I find odd is that I've used this cheaper shipping service prior and have received items in 9-10 days from leaving the warehouse. Poop ?
I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

Usually it moves smoothly. I ordered one package from HobbyKing with the cheaper option - probably Priority Mail or smth (not EMS). It came under 2 weeks to Europe. But I ordered on the same day from RCMART with same shipping and it was in processing for 3 weeks... in HK Postal office... for 3 weeks... in processing! And then it came in a week, after it was actually shipped out. I checked the tracking basically every day and couldn't belive it :)
Don't know if sellers are s*rewing with us or the HK postal office. Haven't seen such things before. Usually cheap registered priority mail works nice!

I had a similiar experience and ever since, have always chosen the quicker shipping.
I wonder if they hold up the boat until the cargo hold is full? LOL
For whatever reason, it's worth paying the extra IMO.

Weird I haven't had an issue shipping with cheaper option from HC, most items show up in the 1-2 week range, I think the longest was 2 1/2 weeks.

My first order took over a month to arrive. After that experience I always use the EMS option.

well, I have more time than money, so the cheap shipping works for me. It took like a month and a half for me to get my kb45. But I got it and I saved on shipping.
To each their own.

I recently ordered some ceramic diff balls from HK. Like most of you guys I pretty much always use EMS Express, and have never had any problems. Well, since the diff balls were only around $10 I chose the standard air mail and it took almost a month to get here. Supposedly they are bogged down with packages, but who knows whats going on, here is what the seller sent me:
"Hi Jason,
Sorry to inform you, your parcel will be delayed, I arranged your parcel by HONGKONG POST on 31st,OCT. Tracking no.:RT038927749HK,I tracked the parcel yesterday and found the parcel still in HONGKONG waiting for the airplane.
I send email to HK POST service center last night concerning your parcel, their reply is:from September,HK post receive a plenty of international airmail parcels requests, the quantity is beyond their working capacity,so a lot of parcels were waiting for ship, they did some action to fix this problem, for example they rent airplane by themself to ship the parcels to somewhere. But it is still slow. They asked me to be more patient on this.
So I think you need wait more days for the parcel, but I think you will receive it before 20th,Nov. I will send email when the parcel have update information. Sorry again."

There is just not enough planes to Europe, US and Australia from HongKong. HK post office expects delays up to 2 weeks.
EMS is not affected.

I usually always use the slow method, and it has take up to almost a month in 1 occasion. I had an order that was stuck in "processing" for almost 2 weeks, I got on the live message deal and it ended up being something screwy with paypal. They cancelled that order and set me up another one just like it, I paid while on line with them. The order went right out after that. I still don't really understand what the problem was, but it arrived in the usual couple weeks after that.

The stuff is so cheap, shelling out for fast shipping is still well worth it.

Living in Canada, I am used to that sort of delay. I have paid for 4 day shipping before just to receive the item 2 weeks later because it was held at the border. I have paid for faster shipping to send items to other people and they had to wait because it was held at the border. I don't waste my money anymore and just learned to be patient. The worst I have ever experienced was 3 and a half months for a sheet of carbon fiber. When I got it, it wasn't even the one I paid for

Oh crap... I just ordered a 300x100x2.5mm carbon sheet, I'll get mad if I have to wait 3 months.
The longest shipping I ever had (from everywhere, US, HK, AUS to the Netherlands) was about 1 month, so I'm a happy international customer

That's bad news for cheap shipping. Guess its better to go EMS. 10$ more isn't that bad ;) + it means I get the package to my door, cheaper meens I have to go and get it myself.
Good info, simplechamp!
