what do you guys do with your antennas? - 12.05.2009, 01:43 PM

i really dont like the idea of having to have my antenna stick out of my revo basher.... it just always worries me that it going to get cut somehow... is there any other way around this? i saw in a post earlier where they had just had the antenna underneath the body still in the "straw".. would this kill range?

i dont need super far distances with this revo but i dont want to get out of range and then my car takes off forever

radio is a jr racing xs3 pro

I fixed the antenna problem by using a 2.4Ghz tx/rx. The antennas are short and can be kept under the body with no issues at all.

Before that I just put the body over my FM systems antenna and let it ride underneath with the straw on. I never felt the need to drive far enough away for range to be an issue.

It happens to all rc's, not really sure why the truck decides to go full throttle into a definite crash of doom though. It's not impossible to chop the antenna off, my savage took a lidd'er(yeah I just made a word) at just under full speed, and by the time it was done the antenna no longer existed past the body lol.

Fail safe ftw when using non- digital radios; the MMM seems to have its own built in fail safe as such though; just goes into neutral when it looses radio signal...

You could try bending the antenna tube so that the tube stays under the body, but that will adversely affect your range and being that close to the motor wires I would be worried about picking up EM interference. Airtronics has a new radio combo out for $99 and it's 2.4G, still pricey for a radio but you'll wish you had spent it when your truck takes off at full throttle and hits something/someone. 2.4G antennas are only a few inches long and unless they are near something that may snag the antenna I typically just let them hang loose.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

Check your system to see if fail safe is not making your radio go wide open throttle forward. That sounds bad.

I always just leave my antenna's trailing down the side of my vehicles, eventually you don't even see it anymore....

Use a peice of lexan about 1 to 2 inches wide and drill staggered holes along the edges then wrap the antenna zig zag style up the lexan peice. I never had an antenna sticking out when running fm, no range problems either.
