Update:
I have had a few diff probs with the F1, but nuthin' a year in the tropics wouldn't fix.
Landmax going very strong. Little 1/18 just starting, my third monster to be discussed at a later date.

Junior monster - 01.20.2010, 12:35 AM

Gday,
I thought this little 1/18 car would be my 3rd and FINAL fast electric car, but I was wrong. There is another.
I wanted to run the Xray before I blabbed about it and the electronics of course. Not sure if any of you guys are too interested, but here I go.
The car is 1/18 scale, Xray M18Pro. 220mm long, weighs 413 grams with battery & shell. Onroad, shaft 4wd, tiny shocks & foams. I'm using Spektrum DX3, C/C's 6800/micro pro setup, Hitec HS82MG and 2s lipo.
Instructions told me to run the car in gently whilst adjusting the front and rear diffs about 4 times. Started doing some high speed runs after that. Settled on 14/42 gearing.
I purchased 2 lipos from hobbycity, both rhinos 2s lipo. One is 40c 1050MaH and the other 20c 1750MaH. I really like the 40c battery:) They were about $9US each? Perfect fit for the car, very small and powerful.
I still have the composite drive shafts and they are holding well. Same with plastic pinions holding up to 6800kv power. I put some thin mesh gauze under the motor hole with double sided tape to stop small pebbles denting the CC can and the beautiful ali drive shaft.
The body shell is a Mazda 626. I could not help myself at the LHS where they had little wipers and rear mirrors, so I bolted them on too. I have ordered a high downforce lola type body for it already. I also put the tiniest YR fan on it I could find. Held on with very sticky double sided tape. It has not budged yet.
I'm happy all the electronics got crammed in no problems. Nothing drags or touches the shaft. The chassis has adjustable sliders for the battery.
I do like my 1/8 brushless landmax, as it is a big lump of iron being thrown around, but this little thing keeps me on my toes for sure. Absolute blast to drive, razor sharp and sticks to the ground. I especially like how you can get on the power very early exiting corners and just power out on your line under complete control. It goes around happily at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, then when pressed it accelerates to demonic speed. These little cars are insane. No problems with anything yet. I bought some spares for when things crap out.
No data logging as nothing will fit. That's it. I hope you like it.

Peter

Here's the last monster. I go into the hobby shop with wallet and this happens! Eyeball this and that, never again. I'll only take a $20 from now on.
The little Losi 1/18 Mini Slider was on special. It's a rtr, slide car with 2.4gHz radio. My mate has the mini baja I think, with VW body. We ran them stock with 280 brushed cans for awhile to great amusement and laughs. They were quite quick out of the box, using the 6 cell NiMh pack with brushed motor.
I ended up ordering the Exotek chassis conversion kit. Extends the slider chassis to Mini late model spec. You beaut graphite too:) The guy I ordered my Neu motor off, recommended a Razor RZ300 motor. It is very small, I thought too small, for my mini slider? Anyway, the instructions were from Mr S. Neu and said this motor is a direct replacement for 280 size brushed motors. I am again using the CC's Micro Pro esc and a rhino 2s - 1750MaH lipo. I changed the stock 16t losi pinion to a steel 16t aftermarket one. I made a motor guard, as the RZ motor is vented and put a front bumper on to save the exposed wheels. All else stock. The losi radio works with the CC micro pro/Razor motor.
I didn't want the car to be overpowered like the Xray, thus 4900-5000kv RZ300 motor. It is a really great little motor matched with the CC micro pro.
The slider will mono on the road, when pushed. It would be approx 25% more power than stock, maybe more. That's what I wanted.
You know when you see the slide cars in real life and they will actually pull small wheelies, due to power.
Here are shots for slider fans. Tried to leave it stock externally, except for a few stickers.
I would also like to say, that Mike from Exotek is a real nice guy. Looked after me from Cal and I'm in Sydney. Fast post, fast.

Thanks
Peter

Thanks. Na, I'd reckon offroad would be bigger here. I love offroad nitro trucks with the big wheels.
The most offroad I ever do with the electric cars I have posted, would be BMX tracks and the like.
But saying this, if someone made a mount and all the gear to convert a Kyosho 3 speed transmission to electric, I'd probably be interested.
A slightly overpowered mini slider is really tops fun on bmx tracks.

See ya
Peter

Yep, but Mad Armour.
Yer I know no need for trannies with electric, I just really like the idea of the chain driven part:) Another day, another r/c.
I put some lights on the mini slider yesterday. Not much else to report.

Here's a vid why I laugh so much.

Mini Slider, Xray, & my mates Mini Baja and Team Associated, all 1/18 electric. Just slightly modified over stock.
Big vid, fans of fast 1/18 only.
