Flux Motor Mounts

Anyone know of any 3rd party motor mounts for the Flux?

I was thinking of a something along the lines of the current Flux mount, but it'd be more clamshell in that it would be screwed down on both sides. This way it can support different diameter motors?

Trouble with a universal mount is that even if the motor you want to use is 1mm larger in diameter the clamps will crush the motor as they dont match the motor. A normal clamp works by being the same diameter but having a gap inbetween the upper and lower halfs- as you apply pressure and tighten the clampthe tow halfs pull together around the motor, they dont bite into the sides like a smaller diameter clamp would.

Best solution would be to have a clamp with changeable inserts for various sized motors, or a mount more like a conventional motor mount that bolts down in the same places as the stock version, but the motor is front mounted via 2 or 4 screws, much like the revo motor mount for nitro conversions.

Thanks for posting because I had all these same thoughts after I had originally posted.

You'd probably need an L mount that would attach to the engine plate in the Flux. Then you'd want to have a single lower bolt position and the upper bolt position being offset and in an arc, much like how most 1/10th scale 2WD setups are done, that would allow you to adjust the mesh.

Then again it might just be easier to get an extended engine plate made, that you could drop a truggy mount/center diff onto. I measured the width of my RC8T's motor/center diff combination and it was just a little wider than the Savage TVPs, so it would overhang a bit. But think that might be ok as most of the Flux TVPs I have seen have large open spaces in that area of the chassis.

I know a guy who knows a guy, so it's custom build.

He made more than just one. Just asked him for dimensions and price. I will update here as soon as I know more!

I made it for a Dutch customer of Mike,

He requested Mike to make a mount for his Plettenberg/Flux; Shipping and customs would mean serious extra costs, so Mike forwarded him to me.

If anyone in the US is interested, just shoot Mike an email. He can make both this, and the 'standard' type, for different size motors. (tekin)

LOL, I consider myself anything but.. seriously, this is pretty straight-forward.

To be honest, Mike got me enthusiastic/infected about the CNC milling, when I was over at his place during the holidays.

I've converted a conventional machine to CNC. (which is nothing more than making motor-mounts and brackets and stuff as well, it's like converting nitro to BL.. ) which obviously isn't needed anymore nowadays.. :)

There are still plenty of nitros to convert to BL- cheaper to pickup a roller and convert it how you like vs buying an electric version ( which is often just a re-hashed nitro chassis anyway, with several $$$ added on for the privalige of using the manufacturer's own motor mount and battery tray(s). Plus there are all the mutant builds using bits of various trucks and making them electric/ BL too, and all the 1/5 scale builds converting petrol trucks to BL- we miss you around here dude!

I was also like wtf He's even online at a Dutch forum! (RCM is far better of course, less noobs over here! )


Anyway... I like the motor mount, it has got a nice design imo
