Problems with MGM 160 controller, need help - 03.14.2006, 06:14 PM

I am having problems with mine and I was wondering if anyone else's is doing the same?

1-When I brake if I go straight from throttle to brake it acts normal, but if I hesitate @ Neutral and then go to brake it slams on the brake violently.

2-When I let off the throttle and go to Neutral it engages the brake for a brief moment. Like when you are going off a jump, the brake taps on and the nose will come slamming down. It doesn't do this every time, there seems to be no pattern to it.

My settings on the controller are as follows:
Car mode one way
brake light
timing automatic
automatic brake off
freewheel on

I would appreciate any input.

Hey Campbell, this is tcolesen over from RCZ.

Have you tried adjusting the throttle trim after programming? At the track I seemed to notice that with the dragbrake and the throttle trim to the point where it would almost move (how you set it), there wasn't really much in the way of braking issues (except the drag brake).

Hey Travis,
I got the part worked out where the brake engages @ neutral by adjusting the netral range on the controller to 20%. This is not my idea of a great fix, but it worked. The other problem with how the brake is fine if I go from throttle to break directly and slams on if I hesitate @ neutral is killing me. I got some reply's on another forum that other people have had the same problems. The + lead also fell off my controller(poor solder job @ factory). Someone else also complained of having the same thing happen. I really am starting to regret buying this. :mad:1

It's good to hear that you were able to fix the brake problem in neutral, but I don't like the sound of the brake being slammed on.

Would it be possible to solder the lead back on?

I was able to solder it back on, but the braking problem really sucks. I will never be able to use this for anymore than bashing. It is not good for track use in my opinion. Very disappointing!
