1/8th buggy and 1515 3D - 03.01.2010, 07:18 PM

Any of you guys running a 1515 3D in racing. Outdoor track....pro class (Mugen MBX6). What kind of time are you getting with it?? I was thinking about swapping to it and a 6S 3300 or 6S 4000.

With a 6S 3300mAh you will have same run times than a 4S 5000mAh configuration with higher kV motor.

Yeah I thought maybe a little more with the more efficient setup. I think the lightest setup and possible runtime of 20mins is 6S 4000. But still don't know if that is enough for 20mins.

In a 10min race I used 3300mah of the 5000mah on that 4S.

I would say its worth experimenting with. I wouldn't depend on these estimations for a race tho. We all know the more efficient setup can yield longer runtimes therefore using less mah, however I think it depends on race conditions, track conditions, and your driving skills as well. You should definitely do a bit of testing though and report the results...

Sounds like I'm going to have to. I was dissapointed in the runtime for sure. Its geared 16T, so only about 36-37mph max. Track was a little loose, but nothing horrible. In the main it was grooved.

Theorically, a 3300mAh 6S has same run time as a 4S 5000mAh (both motor with same rpms), because its contains the same amount of electrical energy. Then weight should be then equal too, except a motor on 6S need less current discharge, so best configuration is 6S with 3300mAh. The efficiency is improved too, and moreover controlers like small current :)

BTW, I have timing down to zero, start power at lowest and punch at 50%. So I'm limiting the amp draw as much as possible without hurting the laptimes.

Like previously stated, I notice big runtime differences when the track was grooved and when it was loose. I found myself trying to save and correct more when its loose, and a good bit more full throttle than when the track is in good shape.

Do you have the lipos and motor in hand to test? If so, go for it! If not, I'd wait for more suggestions before going out and purchasing more...

Got a Tekin T8 1350KV motor coming and a 1515 3D. Going to do a comparison of the two while I'm at it. See which one is truly more efficient. With both being 1350KV motors it will be interesting to see which one runs cooler and draws less amps.

Its the tekin truggy or buggy version ? The buggy version is about 1200Watts, the truggy 1400watts, so the neu 1515(1500watts) should run cooler than the tekin with higher efficiency.
