Brushless Cen Genesis/GST,How is my setup? -

I recently converted a Cen Genesis to brushless. This is my first brushless conversion and I am kind of new at this.I just wanted to list what I have done and get your opinions on what to expect from my setup before I run it.I used a Cen Matrix Arena,66t center diff.I am using a 18 tooth mod1 pinion.I have a Mamba Monster speed control with a 700kv,KB45XL-17 brushless motor.I am using the stock genesis/gst front and rear diff's with the stock tires.I plan on using 5s Zippy Flightmax,3000mah batteries because that is what I already have.I do plan on buying some 6s lipo's in the near future.Would 4s 25c lipo batteries do the job?I found some I can get for pretty cheap.Any comments on this setup and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If the Genesis uses the 1.5mod 26/9 f/r diff gearing (I'm not positive it does, though), then your top speed on 5s might be around 25mph with that motor and gearing.
I wouldn't skimp on batteries, especially with Zippy and Turnigy 30c and 40c so readily available now.
Thanks for the reply.I am looking at the Turnigy batteries now.I will use the speed calc you sent me.I will probably get a higher kv motor when I have more funds.Do you think 1500 kv would be good or should I go lower?I am pretty happy with how the truck came out though.I work in a machine shop so I was able to CNC all of my parts.I will post some pics. Thanks for the reply.
For motor kv: play with the speed calculator and see what looks best to you. You're limited to 6s with the MMM, so you'll probably be looking for something higher than 700kv. You might look at the castle 1520 (1600kv) - it's a great motor that won't break the bank:
I think thats a good motor ( 1520 ), or the 1518 would be good too, right kind of kv range for 5 or 6s lipo and ~40mph topspeed.
Would it be possible to relocate the lipos inside the TVPS at all, or atleast in the center of the chassis either side- looks rather odd with the lipos right at the back, makes the truck more prone to wheelie and waste power.
I agree with moving the lipo's.I just have to drill some new holes. The reason I mounted them there for now is the holes were already there.Right now the truck is pretty tail heavy.
